Description
The Westlink Branch Library located at 8515 Bekemeyer has an opening for a part-time clerk position which includes evening and weekend shifts. To be a successful member of our team you must be customer-focused and have a passion for assisting a wide variety of customers in the use of the library and its programs and services. Candidates should have patience, be courteous and demonstrate empathy during all customer interactions; communicate pleasantly and effectively; and bring creativity and energy to all projects. In addition, you must enjoy interacting directly with people of all ages and from diverse backgrounds and be adept at understanding the needs of Library customers.

Workdays and Hours: This is a part-time position (20 Hours per week)
- Tuesday through Thursday: 4:15 PM - 8:15 PM
- Saturday: 9:15AM - 6:15PM
- Sunday in rotation: 12:45 PM - 5:15 PM (weekday shift will be adjusted when assigned to work a Sunday)
Please note: While this position is currently assigned a fixed schedule, shift and work hours are subject to change based on operational needs. Final schedule will be confirmed at the time of hire and may vary depending on department requirements.

- Shelves & shelfreads
- Staffs the circulation desk, drive-thru, and Automatic Materials Handler
- Checks out and in materials
- Accepts payments on fees
- Places holds on materials
- Issues library cards
- Checks out computer stations
- Releases print jobs
- Provides reader’s advisory and reference assistance to all ages
- Assists users as needed with their varied technology needs including but not limited to Internet searching and Office products, the Library’s and State Library’s assorted e-resources, copiers, scanners, fax machines, laptops, tablets, e-readers, cell phones, etc.

- Ability to: stand while moving about for up to 8 hours per shift, or stand stationary for up to 2 hours, on carpet, tile or concrete flooring; walk while pushing a loaded book cart weighing up to 250 lbs.; reach, bend, stoop, kneel and squat to arrange materials on shelves; extend arms overhead repetitively to return book, weighing as much as 10 lbs.; repetitively reach across body while handling up to 10 lbs.; and frequently lift to shoulder height, up to 50 lbs. and carry the load up to 5'

Six (6) months of entry level clerical office support work which includes sorting and filing.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need of a sponsorship.
