This position entails 24-hour accountability to the department.

Pay Range:

$51.05 - $76.60

Major Responsibilities:
Responsible for the maintenance of efficient and effective departmental operations:

1)Ensures that the work schedule is planned, implemented, and monitored according to department policy.

2)Ensures the availability of necessary supplies and equipment.

3)Ensures that all emergency equipment and supplies are maintained and monitored per protocol and are utilized appropriately to meet all standards of care.

4)Coordinates the use of all information systems to ensure that data entry of patient information and charges is accurate.

5)Monitors and assesses department safety procedures to ensure patient, visitor, and staff safety.

6)Facilitates and ensures smooth coordination of department services with other departments.

7)Identifies internal and external customer needs and ensures provision of services to meet those needs.

8)Monitors and assures efficient utilization of human resources, supplies and equipment and other budgetary issues.

9)Coordination of selection process. Responsible for monitoring and assessing staff developmental needs to ensure competence including conducting timely performance reviews, coaching and counseling, staff meetings and dissemination of information.

Collaboration with Clinical Specialist in the development and implementation of educational activities:
1)Identifies individual/departmental education needs.

2)Provides training and/or arranges opportunities to address education needs.

Responsible for monitoring and implementing Continuous quality Improvement initiatives:
1)Develops and implements plans for corrective measures in conjunction with the Clinical Specialist.

2)Participates in interdisciplinary CQI teams.

3)Actively promotes and involves staff in the CQI process.

4)Identifies CQI project opportunities.

5)Collects, reports, and maintains appropriate data.

Ensures compliance with all regulatory agency guidelines and standards of care.:

1)Assists in developing methods for improvement of care as necessary.

2)Assists in developing and implementing department specific checklists and skills competencies.

3)Reviews and revises policies, procedures, and protocols for the department in conjunction with Clinical Director and Clinical Nurse Specialist.

4)Facilitates and monitors department QA activities by observation, report, and written documentation to ensure quality of care.

Maintenance of personal professional growth and development:

1)Develops goals for educational development with input from Clinical Director.

2)Attends workshops, seminars, and professional organization activities.

3)Serves as an active member on appropriate committees.

Performs all job duties under the strictest Patient Satisfaction standards according to established policies and procedures.:

1)Designs and implements “Patient Satisfaction” Education programs to include various customer service techniques geared towards a variety of ways in staff interface with customers (i.e. person, telephone, etc.)

2)Designs and monitors customer service standards via performance monitoring plans, performance indicators review of customer complaints and any other method in which the customers notify the department of their needs

3)Develops and implements “Patient Satisfaction” standards policies and procedures and assures that policies and procedures are updated as new techniques or services are implemented.

4)Coaches, counsels and provides; direction to registration staff regarding customer service issues and assures that appropriate feedback is given to department director and supervisor, as well as other registration staff management personnel

Licensure:
Nurse, Registered (RN)

Education/Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree or enrolled and progressing 5 years lead or supervisory experience 7-10 years clinical experience -If acts as a core team member of the Stroke Committee, will maintain required annual educational requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Appropriate clinical skills Good Communication skills Strong human relations skills
Current RN licensure in State of Illinois CPR Certified ACLS Certified

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to work weekends, off shifts and holidays, dependent upon departmental needs. Ability to work under situations. May be exposed to hazardous materials/diseases. Requires flexibility to deal with changing environment. If acts as a core team member of the Stroke Committee, will maintain eight hours of annual education requirements.
