Position: Senior Mining Engineer – Open Pit Design

Location: Remote (Dubai or international location) with periodic visits to the mine site in Iran as required.

Reports to: CEO / Technical Services Director

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Open Pit Mining Engineer specializing in pit optimization and mine design. This position will provide technical leadership in mine planning, pit optimization and strategic mine development while working closely with geology, operations and executive management.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in large-scale open pit mining operations and will be responsible for developing optimized mine designs that maximize value while ensuring operational practicality and safety.

Main Responsibilities

 

• Develop and optimize conceptual, pre-feasibility and operational pit designs.
• Produce long-term mine plans and mining strategies.
• Perform pit optimization using Whittle or equivalent software.
• Design pushbacks, mining phases and production schedules.
• Conduct economic evaluations and mining scenario analyses.
• Work closely with geology to integrate resource models into mine planning.
• Provide technical guidance for mine operations and planning teams.
• Review geotechnical constraints and incorporate them into pit designs.
• Support feasibility studies and technical due diligence projects.
• Prepare technical reports and executive presentations.

 

 

 

 

 

1. Position Requirements

 

• Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering.
• Master's Degree is considered an advantage.

 

Experience

• 15–20 years of experience in open pit mining.
• Extensive experience in pit optimization and mine design.
• Previous involvement in large copper and gold mining operations.
• Strong exposure to feasibility studies.
• International mining experience is highly desirable.
