This Electrical Controls Engineer will work with PLC based electrical control systems for heavy industrial equipment for customers & partners with Engineering to produce them within the plant on time and on budget.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluates customer design proposal, specifications, manuals, and other data to assess the feasibility of designs to determine the best solution or solve the problem
- Collaborates with sales, customers and/or vendor(s) on issues or concerns
- Partners with Mechanical Engineer as needed to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and finish the various assignments
- For stand-alone projects, determines specific goals and plans to prioritize, arrange, and complete the various assignments
- Confers with Engineering Manager on project conflicts, issues
- Develops the electrical design of products, utilizing computer-aided design/drafting equipment and software
- Outlines system components or direct modification of products to ensure compliance with engineering design and performance requirements
- Teams with Purchasing and vendors to procure needed parts
- Maintains communication with Engineering Manager on the status of projects
- Adheres to and advances company standards
- Prepares and releases drawings, documentation, detailed instructions, and BOMs to the shop with supervisor’s approval
- Provides documentation and instructions to customers with supervisor’s approval
- Files documentation in appropriate manner
- Oversees shop observations of jobs
- Receives and addresses shop problems related to the design or engineering of the project
- Coordinates with Plant Manager and staff to resolve problems
- Sustains communication with Engineering Manager on shop issues
- Responds to customer’s job related questions to resolve any issues
- Participates in educational workshops, reviews professional publications, and develops professional networks to remain current on professional and technical knowledge
Education:
BS in Electrical Engineering
Job-related Experience:
3+ years, PLC and VFD Programming experience
