Overview

As the Head of Marketing at State Street Investment Management you will lead a global marketing organization, reporting to the firm’s Global Chief Marketing Officer. You will be responsible for setting and executing the marketing strategy for the global investment management business, the 4th largest asset manager in the world, across institutional, intermediary, and retail audiences, with a focus on strengthening brand resonance, and driving integrated marketing programs that support AUM growth and deepening client and partner relationships.

In this leadership role you will be responsible for translating business priorities into coordinated marketing strategies that reinforce State Street Investment Management’s position as a leading global asset manager and ensure alignment across investment, distribution, and corporate partners. You will be accountable for all aspects of marketing strategy and execution across the Investment Management business. While directly leading the commercial and regional marketing teams, you will partner closely with marketing centers of excellence to deliver best in class marketing programming.

This role will be a member of the Investment Management Executive Management Group and the Global Marketing Leadership Team.

Executive Leadership Impact

The Head of Marketing at State Street Investment Management serves as a senior advisor to global Investments leadership partnering closely with Investment, Distribution, Product, and Corporate leadership teams to align marketing strategy with commercial priorities and client needs.

You will be responsible for shaping how marketing contributes to client acquisition, retention, brand differentiation, and long-term asset growth, while strengthening the firm’s positioning across global markets and client segments. The Head of Marketing at State Street Investment Management plays a key role in engaging with fund boards, building trust and alignment around marketing strategy, use of fund assets, fiduciary obligations and regulatory expectations.

The role partners with the Global CMO and the marketing leadership team in advancing the marketing operating model and capabilities required to support a modern, data-driven, and digitally enabled global investment business, while ensuring strong governance, regulatory compliance, and fiduciary oversight.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Collaborate with Business leaders globally to define a marketing strategy that aligns with business priorities and commercial objectives.

  • Partner with Investments, Distribution, Product, Research, Portfolio Management, Regional Leadership and Corporate leadership to translate business priorities into integrated marketing strategies.

  • Develop tighter commercial alignment, with marketing plans and integrated marketing programs that directly contribute to client acquisition, retention, cross-sell, product adoption, and expansion across institutional, intermediary, and retail segments globally.

  • Oversee development of differentiated content and thought leadership that strengthens investment credibility and establishes market-leading positioning.

  • Lead brand, advertising and sponsorship strategy aligned with Investment Management’s growth ambition, strengthening equity and recall in strategic global markets, engaging key audience segments, reinforcing differentiation, and drives choice and action.

  • Establish and lead a robust product marketing capability to support and activate new product launches.

  • Champion a data-driven approach to decision-making, leveraging analytics, market intelligence, client insights, and marketing technology to improve marketing effectiveness and inform strategic priorities.

  • Drive the development of modern marketing capabilities, including digital, data, analytics, and MarTech strategies, to enhance client engagement and marketing effectiveness.

  • Establish clear marketing attribution, measurement, and ROI frameworks that demonstrate business impact and support investment decisions.

  • Manage and optimize a global marketing budget, ensuring disciplined investment decisions, resource productivity, vendor effectiveness and measurable business impact.

  • Shape and evolve the marketing operating model, including governance, prioritization, resource allocation, vendor management, budget oversight, and global coordination.

  • Partner with fund boards, governance forums, and control functions to ensure marketing activities support fiduciary obligations, regulatory requirements and strategic business objectives.

  • Ensure all marketing activities meet applicable regulatory, fiduciary, legal, risk, and compliance standards within a global asset management environment.

  • Contribute as a senior leader within to enterprise strategy, transformation initiatives, talent development, and organizational effectiveness.

Education & Preferred Qualifications:

  • 20+ years marketing leadership experience within asset management, financial services, wealth management, or other highly regulated financial services environments.

  • Proven ability to lead global marketing strategy and execution across brand, content, digital, communications, analytics, and client engagement functions.

  • Experience leading large global marketing organizations, including regional and country marketing teams, shared services models, and direct and matrixed leadership structures, with demonstrated ability to operate across diverse markets and cultural contexts.

  • Ability to inspire high-performing teams through a clear strategic vision, fostering alignment, accountability and results.

  • Deep understanding of investment products, client segments, distribution channels, capital markets, and marketing’s role in driving commercial outcomes.

  • Ability to build trusted partnerships and collaborate effectively across a diverse constituency of clients, business partners, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Experience leveraging data, analytics, client insights, and marketing technology to shape strategy and improve effectiveness.

  • Proven track record of leading organizational transformation, operating model design, and large-scale change initiatives.

  • Deep expertise in marketing strategy, campaign development, execution, and the application of data and analytics to improve effectiveness and demonstrate ROI.

  • Strong governance, risk, and compliance mindset within highly regulated environments.

Salary Range:

$225,000 - $337,500 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
