Description

Company Overview:

A Malaysia-based engineering company specializing in the design, assembly, integration, and deployment of industrial automation and robotic machinery. The company provides automation solutions involving electrical control systems, PLC integration, machine wiring, and on-site commissioning for manufacturing customers.

Job Description:

  • Responsible for building, aligning, and testing complex robotic and automated machinery.
  • Transform raw components and precision machined parts into fully integrated, high-speed automated systems (such as semiconductor, PCBA, or packaging lines) based on engineering designs.
  • Analyze technical drawings, including AutoCAD 2D and SolidWorks 3D models, to understand the physical layout and build sequence.
  • Verify parts inventory against engineering Bills of Materials (BOM) to ensure all components, including pneumatic actuators, sensors, and structural frames, are available.
  • Assemble complex sub-systems such as pick-and-place gantry arms, multi-axis robots, conveyor systems, and rotary index tables.
  • Mount pneumatic components, including air cylinders, manifolds, valves, and route the corresponding air lines.
  • Secure structural frameworks using precision hand and power tools while ensuring fasteners are tightened to specified torque tolerances.
  • Align critical moving components using precision measurement tools such as dial indicators, calipers, micrometers, and laser levels to meet geometric tolerances.
  • Calibrate mechanical linkages and End-of-Arm Tooling (EOAT) to ensure smooth and repeatable robotic movements.
  • Collaborate with automation engineers (controls, mechanical, and electrical) during initial power-up and debugging activities.
  • Diagnose mechanical interferences, friction issues, or pneumatic leaks, and perform necessary rework or adjustments.
  • Perform basic electrical tasks when required, such as routing sensor cables or mounting control enclosures.
  • Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) with customers to verify system cycle time and quality performance.
  • Travel to customer sites to assist with machine installation, final leveling, and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).

Job Requirements:

  • Technical Diploma or ITE certification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Automation.
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in assembling custom industrial machinery or high-precision automation equipment.
  • Proficient in spoken, read, and written English.
  • Proficient in using precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers and dial indicators) and power tools.
  • Able to read and interpret AutoCAD 2D and SolidWorks 3D models to understand machine layout and assembly sequence.
  • Willing to travel to customer facilities for machine installation, wiring reassembly, and site testing.
  • Basic computer knowledge, including Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Able to perform physical work, including occasional lifting of up to 10 kg.
  • Willing to travel 50%–75% as required.
