Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Clerk

Supervisor: Floor Supervisor

Department: Plant 1 

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Summary: The general function of the Shipping and Receiving Clerk will be to coordinate shipments and be primary receiving clerk, including fork truck and truck driving.

Essential Duties

1. Check all in-bound freight for damage, in conjunction with the Quality Control Department, and compare quantities on bills of lading to quantities actually received and to purchase order supplied by business office.
2. Compare packing slips from in-bound freight to purchase orders for accuracy and forward

to supervisor. Report any overages or shortages to Floor Supervisor or designee.

1. Mark and coordinate all out-bound freight to insure proper and most economical transportation is used for out-bound shipments.  
2. Assure that out-bound bills of lading and daily shipping logs are signed by truck drivers,

recorded accurately and forwarded to supervisor.

1. Notify Q.C. when production material arrives at dock.
2. Oversee, in conjunction with Floor Supervisor, out-bound scrap to insure no usable

materials are being disposed.

1. Assist Floor Supervisor or designee on inventory control to insure adequate 

quantities of expendable supplies and equipment.

1. Pick up and delivery of supplies and products as needed for Plant 1, and keep maintenance

records for Plant 1's vehicles.

1. Assist in the inventory of materials in storage.
2. Assist the production personnel in material handling.
3. Maintain shipping and receiving area and storage in a clean, safe and orderly condition in compliance with OSHA requirements and Plant 1's safety committee's regulations.
4. Forklift operation to insure materials are stocked at work stations, and dumping scrap hoppers as needed.
5. Driving a truck with a trailer to ship materials, and also to pick up items needed.
6. All other duties deemed necessary.
7. Maybe required to frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds and if required lift up to 100 pounds with assistance.
8. Additional hours if needed are mandatory.

Requirements

Qualifications:

1. Valid Driver’s license with excellent driving record.
2. Possess ability to maintain flexible schedule to meet the demands of the department, i.e. overtime.
3. Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing.
4. Ability to listen to what is said and act upon it appropriately.
5. Ability to use tact and empathy in dealing with people of varied backgrounds.
6. Ability to establish effective working relationships.
7. Ability to work independently or in a team environment and plan and organize workload.
8. Some computer skills.
9. Accepts responsibility and demonstrates leadership.
10. Is able to multitask effectively in a fast paced environment.
11. Trustworthy- Able to keep business confidences as required.
12. Open minded- Willing to embrace change.

Education and/or Experience:

Experience in material handling, math and documentation skills required.
