Examples of Duties:
- Maintains the computerized database and work order system and related records and files.
- Provide customer service to members of the Charleston Fire Department in regards to all uniform, stations, or other items needed.
- Create orders and meets directly with the vendors and manufacturers to ensure monthly orders are created and requests are met.
- Works in the warehouse organizing and stocking materials.
- Tracks issued equipment and makes determination on the replacement of items.
- Prepares and documents purchase requests and procurement card purchases consistent with city procurement policy.
- Inputs work orders and purchasing data into a computer system.
- Provides general clerical assistance to the division, including answering telephones, responding to inquiries and composing correspondence.
- Refers complaints of service failures to designated departments or divisions for investigation.
- Works with City Logistics to ensure necessary preparations are made for large scale events.
- Supervises and assigns task to the Trades Helper on a daily basis.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree (AA/AS) and one year of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid state issued driver’s license.
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office or similar software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with inventory management software.
Other Necessary Requirements:
- In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City’s needs.
- May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
