As a member of the CAD/CAM team, you will be an active contributor to the factory volume ramp, standardization efforts, as well as developing tools and environments for the CADCAM team to be more effective.

Job Description

What you’ll do

  • Serve as the SME for TDM software and tooling procurement process.  Maintain and own tool library accuracy and cleanliness. 
  • Define the boundaries of our manufacturing capabilities.  Build a knowledgeable base that removes guesswork from our tooling selection and machining parameters.
  • Maintain approved feeds, speeds, and other cutting parameters in TDM based on released part-qualification or metallurgical test results.
  • Review existing cutting-tool definitions used by programmers and help transition agreed-upon tooling into TDM as the approved source of truth.
  • Create and edit cutting-tool and toolholder geometry and accurately define complete tool assemblies, including required attributes, naming, classifications, and associated data.
  • Serve as the primary programming/data-side contact for implementation of new cutting tools. Track requests from identified need through technical validation, TDM implementation, and availability for programmer use.
  • Communicate with programmers when new or revised tooling is correctly implemented and ready for use.
  • Partner with Process Development and MPE team to develop predictive models that predict tool performance and metallurgical outcomes in an effort to accelerate the development of new cutting tool strategies.
  • Stay closely connected with CNC programmers and machinists to understand tooling needs, current practices, and shop-floor challenges.
  • Own the day-to-day integrity of established TDM naming, classification, and process structures while recommending improvements when appropriate.
  • Mentor and coach programmers, ME’s, machinists, and others

What you’ll bring (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Associate’s Degree, or Machinist Apprentice (or similar) graduate with 6 years of experience in CNC machining [OR] High School Degree w/9 years of experience CNC machining
  • 2+ years of Structured Tool Library Management (TDM Systems, Zoller, WinTool, etc.)
  • 6+ years experience CAM Programming experience, minimum 2 years with Siemens NX

What will make you stand out

  • Deep, practical knowledge of cutting tool assemblies and high-performance machining including tool wear, tool failure, chip evacuation, and experience with nickel-based superalloy machining.
  • TDM Systems experience preferred
  • Experience with milling and turning cutting tool processes
  • Proficiency with high-level machine tool controls including sub-routines, Renishaw probing routines, variable based programming, nested looping, as well as CLM (closed loop machining)
  • Degree in Engineering or Machine Tool Technology preferred
  • Highly detail oriented with strong problem solving and organization skills, with above average shop math skills in geometry and trigonometry.
  • Experience using Vericut (preferred) or other CNC verification/machine simulation software.
  • Demonstrated proficiency interpreting drawing requirements.
  • Good communication skills – able to communicate complex messages to colleagues at various levels and act as a resource for those with less experience
  • Ability to multi-task and productively manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Be a self-starter capable of developing processes where standards are still evolving and managing long-term data cleanup projects independently.
  • Experience machining high temperature superalloys found in HDGT or Aerospace components.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $104,600.00 and $174,400.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

 

 

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
