A Day in the Life
Medtronic is a fast-paced, dynamic medical device company with operations in over 150 countries and operational headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We are seeking a Luxembourg-based Principal Tax Accountant to join our team. Be part of a company making a significant impact in the medical device industry.We are seeking a tax professional with international corporate tax experience, with an emphasis on Luxembourg tax compliance and tax reporting. This role will support global and cross-border direct tax matters for the group, with a primary focus on income tax compliance, tax reporting, income tax provisions, and compliance with evolving international frameworks. The position will also support EU DAC6 reporting and compliance, broader tax compliance matters for FINCO and HOLDCO entities, interactions with the auditors and local tax authorities. The role will also support tax planning initiatives by helping ensure timely documentation and ongoing compliance with relevant tax requirements.
The position requires monitoring EU and local legislative developments, assessing their impact on the group's tax compliance obligations.
The role reports to the Director of Global Tax Planning and M&A (Luxembourg-based).
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
- Manage the direct tax compliance requirements of non-U.S. entities, primarily FINCO and HOLDCO entities across multiple jurisdictions
- Coordinate the preparation, review, and filing of corporate income tax returns and related tax reporting obligations
- Prepare and review quarterly and annual income tax provisions, tax account reconciliations, and supporting documentation
- Perform technical tax analyses, including CFC, ATAD, DAC6, Pillar Two, and other international tax compliance requirements
- Monitor EU and local tax legislative developments and assess potential impacts on tax compliance and reporting obligations
- Coordinate external tax advisers and support interactions with auditors and tax authorities to ensure timely and accurate compliance
- Support the Director of Global Tax Planning and M&A on tax reporting, audits, tax accounting, and broader international tax initiatives.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
- Advanced university degree (Law, Economics, Finance, Accounting, or related field) or professional certifications (CPA, CMA, EA, or equivalent); a tax specialization is preferred
- Minimum 5 years of international corporate tax experience in a multinational corporation, accounting firm, consulting firm, or law firm, with a focus on tax compliance and reporting
- Strong experience with Luxembourg tax compliance and tax reporting requirements, including financing and holding company structures
- Exposure and experience in Luxembourg tax advisory work relating to financing and holding companies
- Experience with income tax compliance, tax accounting, income tax provisions, and international tax reporting requirements
- Strong analytical and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Working knowledge of international tax frameworks and concepts, including CFC, ATAD, DAC6, and other international tax compliance requirements
- Fluency in English; French and/or German is a plus
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset.

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
