Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Specialist Physician in Pediatric Intensive Care to join our PICU team in Abu Dhabi.The successful candidate will provide comprehensive critical care management for critically ill infants, children and adolescents, working closely with pediatric subspecialists, emergency medicine, anesthesia, surgery and multidisciplinary critical care teams.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide specialist-level care for critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU.Assess, diagnose and manage children with acute and life-threatening medical and surgical conditions.Manage patients requiring:Mechanical ventilation and respiratory supportNon-invasive ventilation and high-flow oxygen therapyHemodynamic monitoring and vasoactive supportSepsis and septic shock managementAcute respiratory failureNeurological emergenciesPostoperative and trauma careRenal and metabolic emergenciesMultisystem organ failureParticipate in daily PICU rounds and formulate individualized treatment plans.Perform or assist with critical care procedures within clinical privileges.Stabilize critically ill patients arriving from the Emergency Department, wards, operating theatre and other clinical areas.Collaborate with Pediatricians, Pediatric Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Emergency Physicians and pediatric subspecialists.Participate in multidisciplinary PICU meetings and clinical handovers.Provide family-centered communication and counseling regarding critical illness and treatment plans.Participate in emergency response, resuscitation and PICU on-call services.Contribute to PICU clinical protocols, quality improvement and patient-safety initiatives.Participate in teaching and supervision of residents, fellows, nurses and other healthcare professionals.Contribute to clinical audits, research and service development.Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with UAE healthcare regulations and hospital policies.QualificationsMedical degree from a recognized medical school.Completed recognized postgraduate training in Pediatrics.Recognized Board Certification/Specialist qualification in Pediatrics or Pediatric Critical Care.Fellowship or advanced formal training in Pediatric Intensive Care / Pediatric Critical Care is highly desirable.Valid Department of Health (DoH) Abu Dhabi Specialist license/eligibility in the appropriate specialty.Required ExperienceRelevant post-specialist clinical experience in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.Demonstrated experience managing critically ill infants, children and adolescents.Experience with mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic support and pediatric resuscitation.Experience managing sepsis, respiratory failure and multisystem critical illness.Experience in a tertiary-care PICU is highly desirable.Preferred ExperienceFellowship training in Pediatric Intensive Care / Pediatric Critical Care.Experience with advanced mechanical ventilation and critical care monitoring.Experience managing postoperative cardiac, neurosurgical or major surgical pediatric patients.Experience with pediatric trauma and emergency care.PALS certification is desirable.Academic, teaching, research or quality-improvement experience is an advantage.Core CompetenciesStrong pediatric critical care clinical judgment.Ability to manage high-acuity and rapidly changing clinical situations.Excellent resuscitation and emergency management skills.Strong communication with children, families and multidisciplinary teams.Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure PICU environment.Commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered care.Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate will be a DoH Abu Dhabi–licensed/eligible Specialist Physician with dedicated training or fellowship in Pediatric Intensive Care, with solid experience managing critically ill pediatric patients in a tertiary-care PICU.
