Shipping Warehouse Assistant
A Shipping Warehouse Assistant supports daily warehouse operations by preparing and packing outgoing orders. This role ensures products are accurately picked, packaged, labeled, and shipped on time while maintaining a safe and organized warehouse environment.
Key responsibilities
- Pick and pack customer orders according to shipping instructions
- Prepare shipments by labeling, wrapping, and documenting packages
- Verify items, quantities, and product codes before shipping
- Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, or forklifts (if certified)
- Maintain accurate shipping records and update inventory systems
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards
- Assist with inventory counts and stock replenishment when needed
- Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE)
Typical and day-to-day functions
- Review and organize orders for the day
- Print shipping labels
- Pick the correct product, quantity, and SKU number
- Box item(s) to prepare for shipping
- Pick, pack, and relieve items in the system
- Place packages in the proper shipping area
- Report low stock, damaged items, or discrepancies
- Return unused items to the proper warehouse location
- Keep packing stations clean and stocked with supplies
- Organize boxes, labels, tape, and packing materials
- Follow safety procedures and warehouse guidelines
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and personnel skills.
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks at once and adapt to change.
- Detail Oriented to verify accuracy of shipments
- Technology Proficiency: Experience with inventory systems
- High School Diploma or GED
- Reliable transportation
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Frequent lifting, bending, twisting, and reaching
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with heat, noise, and dust
- Prior LTL and FTL shipping knowledge preferred
- Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and PPE requirements preferred
Schedule:
Monday-Friday 8-hour shifts between the hours of 6:00am and 6pm, overtime as scheduled
$19/hr. D.O.E.
