Description

The BDO Audit Graduate Programme is designed for graduates who are eager to build a career in accountancy and gain hands-on experience working with a broad range of clients. 

As part of the Audit team, you will work alongside experienced professionals while supporting our clients. You will be involved in assisting in the preparation of financial statements, analysing financial information, and helping clients meet their reporting and compliance obligations. The role will give you exposure to different clients, business models, and financial challenges, allowing you to develop both your technical knowledge and commercial awareness. 

From the outset, you will be trusted with meaningful responsibilities while receiving the training, mentoring, and support needed to help you grow professionally. As you progress, you will develop strong client relationship skills, gain practical experience in financial reporting and assurance, and work towards your recognised professional qualification (ACA or ACCA). 

This programme offers an excellent foundation for graduates looking to develop a long-term career in audit and professional services or later move into industry. As part of the programme, graduates will be assigned to one of BDO's specialist audit teams, providing the opportunity to develop sector-specific expertise and build strong client relationships.  

Our audit teams serve a diverse range of industries, including Asset Management, Financial Services, Banking and Insurance; Telecommunications, Media and Technology; Charities, Non-Profit Organisations; Construction and Real Estate.  

Working within a dedicated team, graduates will gain valuable hands-on experience, develop strong technical and commercial skills, and contribute to the delivery of high-quality audit and assurance services to clients. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Performing Statutory audits - Participating in audit fieldwork, including testing financial information and assessing internal controls. Working with audit technology and data analytics tools to support the delivery of high-quality audits. Assisting in identifying and communicating audit findings to senior team members.  Preparing audit working papers and documentation in accordance with professional standards. Collaborating with colleagues across different service lines where required.Assisting with the Preparation of Statutory Financial Statements - Ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant accounting standards. 
  • Client Relationship Management - Play a key role in maintaining and developing professional relationships with clients, acting as a point of contact, and ensuring their needs and expectations are met throughout the audit process. 
  • Financial Management Information - Provide clients with valuable financial management information, helping them understand their financial position and offering insights to support their business decisions. 
  • AD-HOC Responsibilities – Undertake additional responsibilities and special projects as required, providing flexible support across client engagements and internal initiatives while ensuring work is delivered to a high professional standard and within agreed timelines. 


Requirements

Essential Requirements
  • Expected or achieved a 2.1 Honours Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build effective professional relationships. 
  • A proactive and enthusiastic approach to learning and professional development. 
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. 
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. 
  • High attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. 
  • A commitment to pursuing a relevant professional qualification.
  • Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Ireland and are required to indicate any current or future employment permit or visa sponsorship requirements as part of your application 
Desirable Requirements
  • A demonstrated interest in Audit, financial reporting, and business operations through academic studies, work experience, extracurricular activities, or personal learning. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate information and identify key findings.
