Job Description:
Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee all aspects of the annual property tax cycle for assigned real and personal property accounts, ensuring timely completion of compliance, assessment reviews, appeals, and tax bill processing.
- Prepare and review business personal property returns and filings across multiple jurisdictions, including management of applicable exemptions such as Freeport filings.
- Analyze property assessments and valuation data to verify assessed values align with expected rendered values and established assessment review guidelines.
- Obtain, review, and maintain property-related information, including assessments, tax bills, and jurisdictional records, while coordinating corrections with taxing authorities as needed.
- Monitor and track critical compliance and appeal deadlines to ensure timely filings and resolution of property tax matters.
- Communicate work status, project updates, and key findings to U.S.-based team members and other stakeholders.
- Apply knowledge of valuation methodologies, jurisdictional requirements, industry-specific considerations, and annual compliance processes to support accurate and effective property tax management.
- Lead, mentor, and develop team members by providing guidance, training, performance feedback, and support for professional growth, including onboarding and coaching new managers.
- Ensure adherence to firm policies, practice standards, and operational guidelines while promoting accountability and quality within the team.
- Manage team workload distribution, monitor project progress, and ensure timely completion of assigned responsibilities and client deliverables.
- Support client relationship management through exceptional service delivery, retention efforts, cross-selling opportunities, and participation in business development initiatives.
- Represent the firm through active participation in professional organizations, industry events, speaking engagements, and thought leadership activities such as article development and publications.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in property tax compliance, assessment review, or related property tax functions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills with the ability to interpret complex property tax data and regulations.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in managing multiple assignments and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while effectively managing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, taxing authorities, and cross-functional teams.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience with property tax software solutions such as OneSource Property Tax, PTMS, Avalara, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of multi-state property tax compliance, business personal property filings, and assessment review processes is preferred.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet critical deadlines.
