Vanguard Resources, Inc. (VRI) is seeking an experienced Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET/Clinical Engineering Technician) to join our team at Nacogdoches Medical Center – South Campus in Nacogdoches, Texas.

Technician MUST possess a clean driving record; this will be validated via MVR search.

  • Technician position - level II
  • Healthcare experience required
  • Shift/Schedule: Ideally 8 am – 5 pm, Monday – Friday, unless workload/demands require otherwise; occasional weekend work required as needed
  • On-call availability is required for this role.

Position Summary

The Biomedical Equipment Technician performs preventive, predictive, scheduled, and corrective maintenance on a wide variety of biomedical and clinical equipment throughout the hospital.

This position is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating, and performing electrical safety testing on medical equipment to ensure safe operation, regulatory compliance, and optimal equipment performance. The technician will accurately document all maintenance activities and support departmental initiatives as assigned by leadership.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled inspections on biomedical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair medical equipment in a timely manner.
  • Conduct electrical safety testing and performance verification.
  • Perform corrective maintenance on malfunctioning equipment.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and service documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Respond to service requests and equipment emergencies as needed.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to resolve equipment issues.
  • Complete additional projects and responsibilities assigned by leadership.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum 1+  years' of applicable; hands on experience
  • Education: Must have obtained knowledge/training, at a minimum, through 2 year associates degree from technical school, etc. 
  • ON THE JOB TRAINING WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED IN LIEU OF EDUCATION
  • Intern experience only will not be considered
  • Healthcare/Hospital experience required
  • Recent      previous experience in a healthcare BioMed/Clinical Engineering environment is required
  • Minimum of 1 year of hands-on Biomedical Equipment Technician or Clinical Engineering experience.
  • Recent hospital or healthcare biomedical equipment experience required.
  • Strong troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with clinical and facilities teams.

Pre-Employment RequirementsCandidates selected for employment must successfully complete:

  • Criminal Background Check

  • Hospital health screenings and required immunizations (including TB testing, influenza vaccine, and other site-specific requirements)
  • Motor Vehicle Report review (no more than three moving violations within the past three years)
