We are searching for the best talent for a Chemistry Technician Quality Control in San Angelo, TX.
The Chemistry Technician Quality Control completes tasks in support of the Quality Control unit, closely following established administrative processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and quality of deliverables. Assists laboratory staff with sample receipt, management of reagents and supplies, and general housekeeping. Tests samples of finished goods under direct supervision. Applies developing knowledge of Quality Control standards to review results of quality analysis and report issues as required. Uses data to identify risks and improvement opportunities. Demonstrates Johnson & Johnson's Leadership Imperatives and Credo in day-to-day interactions with team.
Responsibilities:
Under general direction and in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:
Quality Control Testing and Analysis
Performs raw material, in-process, and/or finished goods tests and reviews.
Performs chemical and sterility release of product.
Performs sterility, environmental, moisture, residual ethylene oxide, and triclosan testing.
Executes simple microbiology analyses of in-process samples and finished products (Microbial Count, Environmental Monitoring, and Sterility Test) to comply with current procedures and pharmacopoeias.
Reads and interprets results and performs trend analysis as required.
Inspects, tests, and/or evaluates the precision and accuracy of products and/or testing equipment.
Monitors and reviews environmental charts and/or numeric data.
Carries out difficult calculations and prepares documentation that shows the results for the tests performed.
Participates in special requests for product testing, such as qualification protocols.
Laboratory Operations
Assists laboratory staff with sample receipt, management of reagents and supplies, and general housekeeping.
Prepares media and performs quality assurance control checks per USP.
Completes records of inspection results, acceptance, rejection, and disposition for entry into logbooks or computer systems (i.e., LIMS).
Able to work safely in an environment with chemicals.
Ensures proper safety and environmental procedures and practices are utilized.
Investigations, Documentation, and Compliance
Investigates and writes out-of-specification reports.
Responsible for ensuring adequate systematic control of nonconforming product.
Recommends, amends, and analyzes sampling procedures, test methods, standard operating procedures, and/or inspection measures in order to lean processes or simplify current practices.
Recommends and implements revisions, corrections, and changes to test equipment, procedures, and methods.
Basic technical writing techniques knowledge to perform preliminary laboratory investigations.
Complies with all applicable Quality Management System, environmental, safety, and occupational health policies (for example, ISO 13485, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001).
Continuous Improvement and Problem Solving
Uses data to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
Supports process improvement teams for departmental and company continuous improvement activities (Lean, compliance laboratory processes, etc.).
Initiates and coordinates discussions with Quality, Engineering, and other relevant departments to develop corrective actions for recurring problems.
Training and Collaboration
Conducts training for lower-level technicians and operations personnel.
Cross-trains to support other functional areas.
Demonstrates Johnson & Johnson's Leadership Imperatives and Credo in day-to-day interactions with team.
Performs other duties assigned by any member of Laboratory Management.

Qualifications:
Required Knowledge and Skills
Basic knowledge of microbiology principles, theories, practices, and methodologies.
Basic technical writing techniques knowledge to perform preliminary laboratory investigations.
Experience with proper use and basic troubleshooting of the following laboratory instrumentation:
UPLC
HPLC
GC
FTIR
pH
KF
Particle Counter
RCS
Technical Competencies
Applies developing knowledge of Quality Control standards to review results of quality analysis and report issues as required.
Ability to inspect, test, and evaluate product quality and testing equipment performance.
Ability to read, interpret, analyze, and trend laboratory data and test results.
Ability to perform calculations and prepare accurate laboratory documentation.
Working Conditions and Additional Requirements
The San Angelo Plant is a 24/7 operation; weekends and holidays are included in the work schedule.
Due to the nature of the San Angelo plant operation, there will be times when working outside standard working hours will be expected and/or mandatory to ensure there is no interruption in business performance. All such time will be compensated according to local law and procedures.
