The Opportunity

Our client is looking to recruit experienced Laggers / Thermal Insulation Engineers for a major project based in Newquay, Cornwall.

The project is currently at the early stages of the works, with an initial contract expected to run for approximately 12 months and the potential to continue beyond this as the project progresses.

The work will predominantly involve HVAC and heating installation, carrying out thermal insulation across heating systems, pipework and associated mechanical services.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Laggers looking for long-term, consistent contract work on a secure project.

The Role

As a Thermal Insulation Engineer / Lagger, your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out HVAC thermal insulation
• Insulating heating installations and associated pipework
• Installing insulation to mechanical services
• Measuring, cutting and fitting insulation materials
• Insulating heating and ventilation systems
• Fitting protective finishes and cladding where required
• Working from drawings, measurements and site specifications
• Ensuring insulation is installed accurately and to the required standard
• Making good and completing finishing work
• Working alongside pipefitters, mechanical engineers and other site trades
• Following strict site health, safety and security procedures
• Maintaining a high standard of workmanship throughout the project

Experience Required

We are looking for candidates with previous experience as a Lagger / Thermal Insulation Engineer, ideally with a strong background in:

• HVAC insulation
• Heating installation insulation
• Pipework insulation
• Mechanical services
• Thermal insulation systems
• Cladding and protective finishes
• Commercial, industrial or large-scale construction projects

Candidates should hold a valid CSCS card or relevant trade qualification/certification and be confident working independently as well as part of a wider mechanical team.

SC Clearance

Due to the secure nature of this project, SC (Security Check) Clearance is required.

Candidates who already hold active SC Clearance would be particularly advantageous. Candidates who do not currently hold clearance will need to be eligible and willing to undergo the required security vetting process before accessing the site, subject to the client's clearance process and requirements.

Contract & Project Length

This is a particularly attractive opportunity for contractors looking for stability, as the project is right at the beginning of the programme of works.

The initial requirement is expected to be for approximately 12 months, with the possibility of the work continuing beyond this depending on the project programme and workload.
