The Information Technology & Analytics (IT&A) Department at the Kogod School of Business, American University, invites applications for a term faculty appointment for the Academic Year 2026-27. Initial appointments are typically at the rank of Professorial Lecturer for one year starting Spring 2027 and renewable subject to satisfactory review/performance and budgetary approval. Faculty are eligible to be considered for promotion subject to the appropriate qualifications and promotion requirements. The standard teaching load for term faculty is six courses per year. In compliance with DC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $150,000.
Applicants should hold a Ph.D., MBA, MS, or related graduate or terminal degree in business analytics, AI, or a closely related field. We welcome applications from scholarly and other professional backgrounds in line with the position's needs. The successful candidate will contribute to applied analytics and AI education in a business-school setting and will be expected to connect analytical methods and technologies to practical business questions and decision-making. Anticipated teaching responsibilities include applied business statistics and data analysis, descriptive and predictive analytics, data management and visualization, and analytics applications supporting managerial decision-making. All faculty are expected to hold office hours and participate in School and University activities and service.
Responsibilities include:
• Teaching courses in information technology, business analytics, AI, and related areas
• Developing and continually improving courses using applied, current, and student-centered pedagogical approaches
• Student academic advising and mentoring
• Maintaining currency in the scholarly and professional foundations of teaching areas
• Participation in department, school, university, and professional activities
