LabCorp is seeking a Point of Care Clinical Laboratory Team Leader to join our team at Ascension St. Thomas Midtown in Nashville, Tennessee
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm with occasional weekends. start/end time flexible.
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for overseeing waived and moderate complexity point-of-care testing
- Provide training and ongoing support to nursing and clinical staff
- Develops, coordinates, and documents training and competency assessments for nursing and clinical staff performing POC testing.
- Collaborates with laboratory leadership, nursing leadership, and clinical departments to implement new testing platforms and workflow improvements.
- Serves as the subject matter expert for POC testing policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Manages POC instrumentation, including validation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and serve as a key resource for troubleshooting
- Identify and replenish testing supplies, reagents, and inventory to support uninterrupted operations.
- Conducts regular rounding on patient care units to support nursing staff, troubleshoot point-of-care testing issues, and ensure adherence to quality and competency standards.
- Monitors quality control, proficiency testing, and corrective actions to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
- Reviews quality metrics, compliance reports, and testing records to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Investigates testing discrepancies, quality events, and non-compliance issues and implements corrective actions.
- Participates in regulatory inspections, audits, and accreditation surveys related to point-of-care testing.
- Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology
- Tennessee Medical Laboratory Supervisor License or ability to obtain it within 30 days of hire
- 5 or more years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Technologist/Technician
- ASCP Certification
Preferred Qualifications:
- One or more years of experience as a Point of Care Lead/Coordinator/Specialist
- One or more years of prior leadership experience
Additional Job Standards:
- In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirement
- Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP and relevant state regulations
- Familiarity with laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
- Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal
- Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- High level of attention to detail with strong organizational and prioritization skills
- Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to make decisions in a fast paced environment
- Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
