Description
Our client is a government agency working to prevent money laundering and terrorism financing in Malta. They are currently seeking to recruit a Senior Systems Engineer to join the Network & Security team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintaining the Network and Security Team’s day to day operations by establishing Team Sprints, following progress and guiding the team members to successful completion of their tasks.
- Ensuring quality of service and compliance according to industry standards (ISO2700:2022).
- Leading and assisting in the agency’s specific strategy projects involving the Network and Security team whilst keeping in-line with the project timelines and technical documentation required.
- Reporting to the Team Lead on a regular basis on the work in-progress and work completed.
- Providing technical guidance and mentoring to the Network and Security team members as well as to the agency staff to ensure compliance with procedures.
- Assisting in the coordination of technical projects with 3rd party suppliers whilst ensuring proper requirement gathering and completion of projects.
- Managing and maintaining the agency’s IT systems, providing support and resolving issues in order to ensure stable operation, availability, integrity and reliability.
- Maintaining and supporting security communications equipment, such as CCTV, Access Control and PABX systems.
- Managing and co-ordinating system applications and Server and Network hardware upgrades.
- Writing and maintaining documentation for IT Systems installation and configurations, operations, development, and data management in accordance with the agency’s policies and procedures, while guiding the team to maintain documentation.
- Proposing improvements to systems and processes.
- Providing second level support to staff and training to users when required.
- Liaising with providers of hardware, software development and maintenance.
- Providing after hours support for planned maintenance when required.
- Producing technical design ideas for new technologies.
- Assisting in developing and maintaining the unit’s information security policies and procedures.
- Managing IT security tools such as anti-virus, anti-malware, web filtering and email anti-spam.
- Carrying out any other related duties as assigned by management from time to time.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- An MQF Level 6 qualification in Computer Science and at least four years of relevant work experience.
- An MQF Level 5 qualification in Computer Science and at least five years of relevant work experience.
- Experience in maintaining and managing an IT Infrastructure in the following areas: Network (LAN, WAN), Storage and Backup, Active Directory and Windows Systems Administration.
- Knowledge and understanding of Network Optimization Solutions.
- Knowledge and understanding of IP networks, network components and troubleshooting using tools to diagnose and resolve issues.
- Expertise in anti-virus software, intrusion detection, firewalls and content filtering.
- Knowledge of risk assessment tools, technologies and methods as well as knowledge of disaster recovery, computer forensic tools, technologies and methods.
- Experience in developing contingency plans to deal with organizational emergencies.
- Experience in industry technologies such as CCNA and MSCA would be considered an asset.
