🔧 Shop Technician I (Wastewater Pumps)
Help Keep Critical Water Infrastructure Running
Are you mechanically inclined and enjoy tearing down, diagnosing, and repairing equipment? Looking for a hands-on career where your work directly supports essential water and wastewater systems? Join Xylem as a Shop Technician I and become part of a global team dedicated to solving the world's most challenging water issues.
In this role, you'll evaluate, troubleshoot, repair, and test industry-leading Flygt submersible wastewater pumps that help move and manage water in communities across North America. Whether your experience comes from diesel mechanics, HVAC, industrial maintenance, heavy equipment, electrical troubleshooting, or another mechanical trade, we'll provide product-specific training to help you succeed.
🛠 What You'll Be Doing
Diagnose, evaluate, repair, and test submersible wastewater pumps and related equipment
Perform mechanical tear-downs, inspections, rebuilds, and repairs
Troubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical issues
Create repair recommendations and document findings within Xylem's work order system
Operate shop equipment including forklifts, overhead cranes, hydraulic presses, and power tools
Maintain accurate service records and repair documentation
Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area
Work independently on assigned repairs while collaborating with team members as needed
Provide occasional customer interaction when discussing equipment repairs and recommendations
🎯 What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
1+ year of mechanical, maintenance, repair, or technical experience
Experience using hand tools and power tools
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
Ability to read and understand technical information
Basic computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office or smart devices
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to work safely in an industrial shop environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with pumps, motors, rotating equipment, or industrial machinery
Diesel mechanic, HVAC, electrical, maintenance, or heavy equipment background
Experience operating forklifts, overhead cranes, or hydraulic presses
Experience working in manufacturing, industrial, repair, or service environments
Demonstrated job stability and strong work ethic

💰 Compensation & Benefits
$24 - $26 per hour (based on experience)
