Job Summary

 

The Food Service Worker & Transportation Liaison plays a critical role in ensuring students and staff receive timely, complete meal service each day. This position is responsible for coordinating the daily transfer of food products between the OBS temporary campus kitchen and our off-site commissary kitchen, as well as supporting daily meal service setup.

 

We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented professional who possesses the flexibility to cross-train into other campus food service positions to support our team as needed.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

• Drive the school-provided van to transport equipment and meals between the OBS temporary kitchen and the off-site commissary kitchen.

 

• Collaborate with off-site kitchen staff to collect daily food products, load hot boxes into the van, and verify that all ordered products are accurate and accounted for before transit.

 

• Safely unload hot boxes and food service materials upon arrival at OBS and assist with setting up the daily cafeteria service line.

 

• Cross-train in other food service roles to provide coverage as needed.
• Maintain a clean transport vehicle and strictly adhere to all institutional food safety and handling procedures.

 

• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications

 

• Valid driver's license.
• Active ServSafe or ANSI-approved Food Handler's certification.
• Ability to successfully pass all background checks and clearances required for working in a school environment.
• Ability to lift, push, and carry up to 50 pounds frequently.
• Exceptional punctuality and commitment to a strict daily schedule tied directly to student meal times.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

• Prior experience in institutional food service, catering, commercial delivery, or route transportation.
• Experience working within a school, hospital, or similar institutional setting.
• Culinary preparation and food serving experience are highly valued.

 

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

 

• Requires operating a transit van between locations daily in varying weather conditions.
• Involves frequent lifting, carrying, loading, and unloading of heavy hot boxes. 
• Requires standing, walking, and physical activity throughout the entire shift.
• Work is performed on an active school campus and involves daily interaction with students, including individuals who are blind, visually impaired, or have multiple disabilities.
