Job Description:

Here at Entegris, we use advanced science to enable technologies that transform the world, and we are seeking employees who have the drive to continue the mission.

The Role:
Our site in Aurora, IL is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Co-Op to join our team for the Spring 2027 season. This assignment is intended to be 6 months in duration.
In this role, you will serve as a manufacturing engineer for the Pads business unit, working side by side with our engineers on real production challenges across the milling, lamination, surfacing, grooving, and finishing room processes. You will support continuous improvement and OEE projects, analyze process and quality data, and help implement new technologies on the floor. You will leave with hands-on manufacturing experience, a broad network across operations and quality, and measurable results tied to cost, throughput, and product quality.

What You’ll Do:

  • Serve as a manufacturing engineer for the Pads business unit, supporting the milling, lamination, surfacing, grooving, and finishing room processes.

  • Support continuous improvement (CI) and OEE improvement projects — identifying loss sources, running trials, and helping implement countermeasures on the production floor.

  • Collect and analyze process and quality data to troubleshoot issues, quantify improvement opportunities, and support root-cause investigations.

  • Assist with the evaluation and implementation of new equipment, tooling, and technologies, including documentation, work instructions, and operator training support.

  • Partner closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and Quality teams, and present project status and results to the Pads leadership team.

  • Document project outcomes and deliver a final presentation summarizing results, cost savings, and recommendations at the end of the assignment.

What We Seek:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, AI, Robotics, or Chemical Engineering, with a keen interest in manufacturing processes.

  • Demonstrates a passion for innovation, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.

  • Eager to learn from experienced engineers in a hands-on production environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort presenting to leadership.

  • Detail-oriented, adaptable, and flexible in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

  • Technologically savvy — comfortable with data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, Power BI or similar); exposure to Lean/Six Sigma or CAD is a plus

Desired Major(s) & Graduation Year:

  • Industrial Engineering with a data analytics or smart manufacturing concentration

  • Manufacturing Engineering with Industry 4.0 / digital manufacturing coursework

  • Mechanical Engineering with a mechatronics, controls, or robotics focus

  • Chemical Engineering with process systems engineering or process data analytics (very relevant to your milling/lamination/coating process data)

  • Mechatronics or Robotics Engineering

  • Computer Science (AI, ML, or intelligent-systems track)

  • Coursework or interest in data/AI applications in manufacturing is a plus.

  • Desire graduation year 2027

Eligibility:

  • Must be a currently enrolled student

  • Available to work 40 hours a week, M-F (8a-5p) beginning in January through June

  • Must be familiar with the university’s requirements to participate in a co-op program

  • Entegris is not currently hiring candidates for co-ops/internships who will need, now or at any time in the future, Entegris sponsorship through the H1-B lottery.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • On-site role in Aurora, IL; includes standing, sitting, and walking through the production plant, and adherence to PPE requirements (safety glasses, safety shoes, and other PPE as needed).

  • Capable to lift up to 25lbs
