We are seeking a dynamic Senior Design Engineer to work at our India Engineering Center campus in Bengaluru, India. The successful candidate will join the Compression Systems Engineering (CSE) Design team to provide engineering solutions for our Geared Turbo Fan and Operational Commercial engine families. This includes various cold section hardware like disks, IBRs, cases, airfoils & actuation system etc.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop innovative and technically sound design solutions within program schedule milestones.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
- Understand design requirements, processes and drive tasks to closure independently.
- Learn and apply sophisticated solid modeling and analysis tools in a highly proficient manner.
- Utilize standard work, DFMEA/FMECA, Tolerance stack-up, Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and other design tools to design and continuously improve hardware.
- Embrace a continuous improvement philosophy. Coach/help young engineers by proving technical guidance and/or reviewing their work.
- Communicate with team leadership and management on status and risks to program schedule and metrics.
Basic Qualifications:
- Master’s in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 6+ years of relevant experience Or Bachelor’s in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 8+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the gas turbine field, especially within the aerospace industry.
- Experience in the design and development of various compression system hardware, such as blades, disks, cases, and actuation system.
- A broad understanding of gas turbine hardware, drawings, materials, manufacturing, and various inspection methods.
- High proficiency in Siemens NX, Teamcenter, SAP, and MS Office is desired.
- Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience interacting effectively with internal and external customers
- Thorough knowledge of ASME standards (such as ASME Y14.5 and ASME Y14.41) and other relevant aerospace industry specifications.
- Proficiency in commercial FEA software, such as ANSYS or Simcenter.
- Automated design optimization skills are a plus.
- Green or Black Belt Six Sigma certification is also a plus.
