BlackSky is seeking a Senior Analyst, Business Intelligence to support data-driven decision-making across our space-based intelligence business, with a particular focus on analyzing constellation capacity, customer demand, and product performance. Reporting to the Senior Director of Product Management, you will build on an existing foundation of Python, SQL, and Excel-based analytical tools and datasets, while developing new analyses that connect operational and commercial data to business decisions.

The ideal candidate combines analytical and technical skills with strong commercial instincts and the ability to carry analyses from data through recommendation/ conclusion. They can work with distributed datasets, identify the right questions to ask, develop practical analytical approaches, and translate the results into clear insights for Product, Sales, and other Go-to-Market stakeholders. Satellite industry experience is not required, but intellectual curiosity, comfort learning complex systems, and the ability to move between detailed analysis and broader business context are essential.

Responsibilities:

  •  Translate complex business questions into structured analytical problems, identify the required data, develop and apply analytical methodologies, and communicate actionable conclusions to inform decision-making.
  • Conduct constellation capacity analyses across geographies and products.
  • Own and evolve core business intelligence datasets and analytical tools used to evaluate customer ordering behavior, product usage, revenue, pricing dynamics, and operational performance across customer segments.
  • Maintain, improve, and expand existing Python- and SQL-based workflows that ingest, standardize, enrich, and analyze large operational datasets.
  • Partner with Product, Sales, and other go-to-market teams to evaluate prospective deals, product structures, customer requirements, and commercial tradeoffs using quantitative analysis along with other relevant business context.
  • Improve the organization, documentation, modularity, and reproducibility of the existing analytical codebase so tools can be maintained and extended over time.
  • Communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including the assumptions, limitations, and business implications of the analysis.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative, technical, business, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of five years of experience working in business intelligence, analytics, data science, or a related analytical role.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python for data analysis and familiarity with SQL.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex business questions into structured analysis.
  • Strong business and technical acumen with top notch verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and commitment to analytical accuracy.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally approximately [5%] of working days.
  • Ability to operate independently, effectively and decisively in a highly technical data-rich environment with minimal guidance and intellectual curiosity.
  • Due to program requirements, this role requires US-born citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced graduate degree in a quantitative or technical field, or an MBA. 
  • Professional experience with geospatial and/or remote sensing data.
  • Experience working with product and sales organizations.
  • Experience at a startup or rapidly innovating company.

The anticipated salary range for candidates in Seattle, WA is $130,000-145,000 per year. The final compensation package offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on specific background and education. BlackSky is a multi-state employer, and this pay scale may not reflect salary ranges in other states or locations outside of Seattle, WA.
