Description

BUILT ON FLAVOR.  FUELED BY PEOPLE.

What’s it like to work at Kinder’s? Well, there’s a lot of snacking and geeking out over what we all cooked over the weekend. Beyond that, there’s also plenty of hard work. Because we don’t just like flavor, we’re obsessed with it.

With over 100 products sold nationwide, we’re now a top-five brand in multiple flavor categories at Costco, Walmart, Whole Foods, and more. We’re not your typical CPG company. Privately held and founder-led, we like to think of ourselves as a pirate ship in a sea of cruise ships. Our crew is adventurous and fearless. We chart our own course and chase big ideas to make food unforgettable.

As we expand globally and approach $1 billion in revenue, we need more smart-and-scrappy, flavor-obsessed people to come aboard. If you’re looking for a place where you can see the real impact of your work... this is it! Every day, you’ll be part of a journey to add flavor to millions of meals and lives.

About This Role:

At Kinder's, we're passionate about flavor, quality, and creating exceptional food experiences. As our company continues to grow, so does the scale and complexity of our supply chain across co-manufacturing, logistics, and an expanding SKU portfolio.

The Manager, Supply Chain Finance - Logistics & 3PL will serve as the lead finance business partner to Logistics, Customer Operations, and Warehousing. This role will own the financial planning, reporting, and decision support needed to manage freight, distribution, warehousing, and related supply chain costs.

Operating across carriers, third-party logistics providers, distribution centers, customers, and internal teams, this manager will drive cost visibility, billing and contract compliance, network analysis, and productivity. The role will balance transportation and warehouse cost with service, inventory, customer requirements, and working capital.

This position will help establish a scalable Logistics Finance and audit capability by creating reliable reporting, strengthening controls, recovering overpayments, and turning shipment-level data into clear recommendations for senior leaders.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Planning, Forecasting & Performance Management

  • Own the annual budget, rolling forecast, and long-range plan for outbound freight, inbound freight, warehousing, distribution, and related logistics costs.
  • Develop forecasts based on volume, weight, customer and channel mix, modes, lanes, transportation rates, fuel, accessorial, warehouse activity, network changes, and service requirements.
  • Lead monthly and weekly performance reporting, explaining results versus budget, forecast, and prior periods and identifying required actions.
  • Establish logistics financial KPIs and dashboards, including cost per case, cost per hundredweight, cost per mile, cost per load, warehouse cost per case, service, utilization, and productivity measures.
  • Connect logistics performance to gross margin, customer profitability, working capital, inventory, and cash flow.
  • Provide forward-looking insights on emerging cost, service, capacity, and network risks and opportunities.

Transportation, Warehousing & Network Economics

  • Analyze transportation rates, fuel surcharges, accessorial charges, modes, carriers, lanes, load utilization, and customer shipping patterns.
  • Evaluate carrier strategies, consolidation opportunities, transportation alternatives, and internal versus third-party logistics options.
  • Partner with Supply Chain to optimize warehouse and distribution center costs, including storage, handling, throughput, transfers, and inventory positioning.
  • Lead financial analysis for 3PL requests for proposal, contract negotiations, rate changes, and service model decisions.
  • Evaluate network opportunities, including distribution center locations, customer assignments, co-manufacturer flows, inter-DC transfers, and inbound versus outbound trade-offs.
  • Partner with Customer Operations and Customer Supply Chain teams to quantify the financial impact of service levels, OTIF requirements, minimums, order patterns, and customer-specific logistics requirements.
  • Identify, quantify, prioritize, and track logistics productivity and cost-reduction initiatives; validate realized savings and business impact.

Freight Audit, Controls & Team Leadership

  • Establish invoice, rate, fuel surcharge, accessorial, and contractual compliance across carriers, brokers, warehouses, and 3PL providers.
  • Develop risk-based audit routines, identify billing exceptions, recover overpayments, and track root-cause corrective actions.
  • Partner with Accounting on accruals, coding, expense allocations, inbound freight capitalization, close processes, and financial controls.
  • Set priorities and provide day-to-day direction, coaching, and quality review for analysts supporting Logistics Finance.
  • Build trusted relationships across Logistics, Warehousing, Customer Operations, Accounting, Sales, and Finance and communicate recommendations clearly to senior leaders.
  • Create repeatable data sets, models, and reporting processes that improve accuracy, speed, transparency, and scalability.

Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of progressive finance experience, including meaningful experience in logistics finance, supply chain finance, operations finance, transportation analytics, or FP&A.
  • Strong command of budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, freight and warehousing economics, inventory, working capital, and business case development.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing transportation rates, fuel surcharges, accessorials, modes, lanes, carriers, warehouses, or 3PL contracts.
  • Experience building or operating freight audit, invoice compliance, or contract compliance processes is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in Consumer Packaged Goods, food, manufacturing, retail, or another distribution-intensive business strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex workstreams, influence cross-functional decisions, and coach or develop others.
  • Advanced Excel / Google Sheets and financial modeling skills; experience with large shipment-level data sets is required.
  • Executive-ready communication skills and the ability to translate complex logistics data into clear recommendations.
  • Experience with BI, transportation management, warehouse management, ERP, and planning systems is a plus.
  • Comfort operating in a high-growth environment where data sources, processes, and organizational structures continue to evolve.

Location and Travel:

The position will be based onsite in Walnut Creek, CA. We strongly believe in the power of culture and community and have a hybrid work structure with 4 days in the office on a weekly basis to encourage collaboration and personal connections that will allow us to better serve our customers and consumer and to have more fun. Fridays are flex days with employees having the opportunity to choose to be either in the office or to work from home based on what makes most sense for them.

Pay Transparency:

The expected starting salary range for this role is $135-000 - $155,000 per year. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range based on the location of the role. The amount a particular employee will earn within the salary range will be based on factors such as relevant education, qualifications, performance and business needs.

SEASONED FOR SUCCESS:

  • No two days here are the same.
  • We try to be good team members and good communicators, but we don’t live by hierarchy and structure – everyone is a difference maker here.
  • We make a lot of decisions in the face of incomplete information – our team embraces ambiguity and tries to make good decisions fast rather than great decisions slow.
  • We believe our job is to take smart risk, not to eliminate risk.
  • We believe in growing our skills and becoming a better company with more managerial expertise, but we are an entrepreneurial company at heart.
  • We aren’t trying to be average – we want to do exceptional things, and we are willing to work hard to achieve them.

BENEFITS THAT BRING MORE TO THE TABLE:

We offer a range of total rewards that may include paid time off, 401k, bonus / incentive eligibility, equity grants, competitive health benefits, and other family-friendly benefits, including parental leave. Kinder’s benefits vary based on eligibility and can be reviewed in more detail during the interview process.

OUR RECIPE FOR BALANCE:

We believe great culture starts with people. We’re a people-first company built on connection, collaboration, and balance. Most of our work happens in the office to spark creativity and community, but we also offer flexibility so team members have the autonomy to work outside the office when needed to support their work-life balance and personal commitments.
