Job Summary
 

This role is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of a physician medical professional liability insurance program serving more than 400 physicians. The position serves as the primary point of contact for physicians and practice leaders, providing guidance on insurance coverage, applications, renewals, policy changes, claims, and underwriting activities. The role also oversees program documentation, databases, workflows, and annual renewals while collaborating with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure efficient program administration. Success in this position requires strong customer service, communication, analytical, and organizational skills, along with the ability to handle sensitive information with a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of the physician medical professional liability (MPL) insurance program for 400+ physicians.
  • Serve as the primary contact for physicians regarding applications, renewals, policy changes, cancellations, tail coverage, claims guidance and coverage questions.
  • Explain program requirements, provide quotes and estimates, underwrite new applications and process policy transactions.
  • Maintain professional communication with physicians, office managers, hospital leadership, Legal Affairs, Credentialing and Medical Administration.
  • Coordinate and complete annual policy renewals, including updating program materials, applications, templates and physician records.
  • Develop and maintain program documentation, email templates, forms, procedures and workflow guides.
  • Partner with software vendors and internal stakeholders to enhance and manage program databases and workflows.
  • Attend PIC Board of Directors meetings.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of physician insurance and malpractice claim information.
  • Provide training and subject matter expertise on program operations and underwriting database.

Daily high level communication with insured physicians/practice managers regarding
  issues, such as, but not limited to:

  • Miscellaneous MPL insurance questions
  • Provide program overview, respond to inquiries, provide estimates and quotes
  • Underwrite new provider insurance applications
  • Manage policy amendments and cancellations
  • Issue invoices, premium adjustments and refunds
  • Process cancellations and tail policies
  • Guidance on claim processing

  • Experience managing projects independently and collaboratively.

  • Demonstrated leadership and team support capabilities.
  • Knowledge of hospital operations and organizational structure.

Qualifications

  • Required Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • 2 years of relevant experience risk analysis/management, project management, legal field such as with health care claims and health care risk management programs, patient safety, patient quality improvement programs, nursing administration, management positions, or related experience Required
