Dan C. Trigg Memorial Hospital is seeking an experienced and compassionate Manager of Nursing to provide clinical, operational, and administrative leadership for nursing services. As a key member of the leadership team, the Manager of Nursing will oversee daily nursing operations, promote a culture of patient-centered care, support caregiver engagement and professional development, and drive excellence in quality, safety, and service. Working collaboratively with physicians, department leaders, and executive leadership, this role plays a critical part in achieving organizational goals and ensuring the highest standards of care for our patients and community.

The Manager of Nursing serves as a trusted clinical leader, mentor, and resource for nursing staff, fostering accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, and exceptional patient outcomes. This position assists the Department Director in planning, directing, and coordinating the operational, financial, and personnel functions of assigned departments while providing hands-on leadership to support efficient operations and high-quality patient care.

Clinical Operations Leadership

  • Direct and oversee the daily operations of assigned nursing units and clinical services.

  • Ensure delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centered care consistent with organizational standards and evidence-based practice.

  • Monitor staffing levels, patient acuity, and resource utilization to ensure appropriate care delivery.

  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes and care coordination.

  • Address operational concerns and implement solutions to improve service delivery and patient experience.

Staff Leadership and Development

  • Recruit, hire, onboard, mentor, and retain high-performing nursing staff.

  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching, feedback, and professional development opportunities.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.

  • Promote staff engagement, recognition, and workforce development initiatives.

  • Address employee relations issues in partnership with Human Resources.

Quality and Patient Safety

  • Lead quality improvement initiatives and performance improvement projects.

  • Monitor quality indicators, patient safety metrics, and clinical outcomes.

  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and risk management programs.

  • Investigate clinical concerns, incidents, and safety events and implement corrective action plans.

  • Support a culture of high reliability and continuous improvement.

Regulatory and Compliance Oversight

  • Ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards, CMS requirements, state regulations, organizational policies, and professional nursing standards.

  • Maintain readiness for regulatory surveys and accreditation reviews.

  • Ensure adherence to patient privacy, HIPAA, and confidentiality requirements.

  • Promote compliance with nursing scope of practice and professional standards.

Financial and Resource Management

  • Assist with development and management of departmental budgets.

  • Monitor labor productivity, staffing expenses, and departmental resource utilization.

  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency while maintaining quality and patient safety.

  • Participate in capital and operational planning efforts.

Strategic and Organizational Leadership

  • Partner with hospital leadership to achieve strategic goals and operational objectives.

  • Support implementation of organizational initiatives, clinical programs, and best practices.

  • Participate in leadership committees and interdisciplinary teams.

  • Serve as a leader and advocate for nursing excellence throughout the organization.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Master's degree in Nursing preferred.
     

Licensure and Certifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New Mexico or compact state (out of state) RN license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Advanced certifications appropriate to area of responsibility preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years of inpatient nursing experience preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years of nursing leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience in an acute care hospital setting strongly preferred.
  • Rural healthcare experience preferred.
