Museum Aide (Part Time)

This is a 5-hour per week position, but additional hours may be available based on Museum needs.

• Welcome visitors and provide positive public relations
• Provide information on museum activities and exhibits
• Set up and facilitate the dinosaur dig activity for visitors

• Oversee and direct the Dinosaur Discovery Museum’s visitor experience in the Little Clint: The Story of a Baby Dinosaur exhibit

• Assist Lab Supervisor and Education Department staff in the facilitation and evaluation of public programs

• Keep current on Museum activities and share details with visitors

• Provide extra security by observing visitors

• Perform related duties as assigned

• Prior experience providing customer service and/or working with the public is desired.
• Must be age 16 or older.
• Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug test and, if 18 or older, a background check.

• Ability to understand and follow oral and written orders.
• Ability to interact with visitors from pre-school age through adult.

• Ability to provide excellent customer service.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors and the public.

• Skill in operation of general office equipment.

• Ability to handle reasonably necessary stress.

• Task involves some physical effort, i.e. some standing and walking, bending, frequent light lifting (5-10 pounds); infrequent moderately heavy lifting (20-50 pounds); dexterity in the use of fingers, limbs or body.
• Task may involve extended periods of time standing or sitting at a customer service area.

• Task requires sound perception and discrimination.
• Task requires visual perception and discrimination.
• Task requires oral communication ability.
