Job Description
Serves as a strategic problem solver and delivery leader who translates enterprise objectives into measurable business outcomes. This role owns initiatives from concept through discovery, delivery, partnering closely with Product, User Experience, Technology, Field Insights, Field Implementation, Operations, and business stakeholders to deliver impactful advisor and enterprise capabilities.The Business Architect is expected to independently drive discovery, define business outcomes, establish success metrics, align stakeholders, and ensure timely delivery of roadmap initiatives. Success in this role is measured by the ability to consistently deliver high-quality outcomes with minimal oversight while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships and mentoring less experienced team members.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Thinking & Business Alignment (20%)
- Understand organizational strategy, business priorities, and enterprise objectives.
- Translate strategic goals into actionable business capabilities, initiatives, and measurable outcomes.
- Connect individual initiatives to broader business and customer value.
- Identify opportunities, gaps, risks, and dependencies across experiences, products, and processes.
- Contribute to future-state thinking and support long-term business vision.
Problem Definition & Solution Ownership (25%)
- Lead complex business problems from ambiguity to execution.
- Independently conduct discovery to determine:
- What problem should be solved.
- Why it matters.
- Who is impacted.
- What outcome defines success.
- Define business requirements, success metrics, acceptance criteria, and deliverables.
- Ensure solutions are practical, scalable, and aligned to enterprise strategy.
- Demonstrate complete ownership from initiation through implementation.
Roadmap Delivery & Execution Excellence (20%)
- Drive roadmap initiatives from concept to delivery with minimal supervision.
- Ensure deliverables are completed:
- On time
- Within scope
- With high quality
- With no unresolved business issues
- Facilitate decision making, issue resolution, and dependency management.
- Monitor progress, proactively identify risks, and implement mitigation plans.
- Hold teams accountable for commitments and outcomes.
Cross-Functional Partnership (15%)
- Partner closely with:
- Product Owners
- UX Designers
- Technology Teams
- Field Insights
- Field Implementation
- Operations
- Business Stakeholders
- Ensure alignment across business, design, and technology throughout delivery.
- Act as the primary business representative during discovery and execution.
- Drive consensus across diverse stakeholder groups.
Stakeholder Management & Communication (10%)
- Build trusted partnerships across business and technology organizations.
- Communicate effectively with leaders, peers, and delivery teams.
- Facilitate workshops, reviews, roadmap discussions, and decision-making forums.
- Present recommendations supported by analysis, customer insights, and business impact.
- Manage competing priorities while maintaining stakeholder confidence.
Mentorship & Team Development (10%)
- Mentor and guide team members with less experience.
- Share business architecture best practices, frameworks, and delivery approaches.
- Assist in onboarding and developing newer team members.
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Provide constructive coaching that helps elevate overall team capability.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
- 10- 14 years of experience in:
- Business Architecture
- Product Management
- Business Analysis
- Digital Product Delivery
- Consulting or related disciplines
- Experience delivering end-to-end business initiatives and measurable business outcomes.
- Strong understanding of business process analysis, customer experience design, and product delivery.
- Proven ability to independently drive large initiatives with limited direction.
- Experience collaborating with UX, Technology, Product, and Business partners.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Demonstrated stakeholder management and influencing capabilities.
- Experience mentoring junior team members.
- Ability to succeed in ambiguous and rapidly changing environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Financial Services, Wealth Management, or FinTech.
- Knowledge of Business Architecture frameworks, value streams, and capability models.
- Experience working within Agile product operating models.
- Certifications in Business Analysis, Product Management, Agile, Lean, Design Thinking, or Business Architecture.
- Experience delivering enterprise-scale customer and advisor experiences.
In-Office Collaboration
We are a client-centric, relationship-based business. Working together, in-person, is foundational to how we achieve results. By fostering a culture of face-to-face collaboration, idea sharing, productivity and personal connection, we deliver for our stakeholders — clients, advisors, employees and shareholders. Our employees work in the office at least three (3) days per week, with flexibility to work from home two (2) days per week. Some roles may require additional in-office time or different in-office expectations, and specific requirements will be discussed during the hiring process.
