The Maintenance Project Specialist position works with the site to oversee labor, installation, and the repair of equipment in our galvanizing and coatings facilities. This position completes various types of shop documentation including inspection verification, installation and repairs industrial equipment systems, apparatus, and some electronic components of industrial machinery. Incumbent must follow electrical codes, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications. Incumbent must be able to follow blueprints with ability to fabricate shop equipment & tools utilized in the galvanizing plants. Diagnoses malfunctioning equipment, such as galvanizing furnaces, Boilers, ARS systems, motors, and lighting fixtures, using test equipment, and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables, using hand tools.

Essential Functions:

  • Reports to NA Coatings Project Manager.
  • Ability to travel domestically & internationally 80% of the time
  • Check finished part to blueprints and electrical drawings
  • Operate forklifts, welders, drill presses and other equipment and machinery in a safe and productive manner
  • Participate in department functions, such as Lean teams, safety, peer review, and employee training.
  • Complete various types of periodic maintenance including reports and inspection verification
  • Install and repair control panels, electrical distribution systems, motors and various electrical circuits
  • Ability to effectively manage projects with shop and maintenance personnel, contractors, management
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical issues on industrial equipment, including cranes, crane remote controls, variable frequency drives, temperature control systems, burner management systems, furnaces, and boiler control systems
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and various testing equipment.
  • Ability to confidently work with industrial chemicals, material handling/environmental equipment

Other Important Details about the Role:

  • Handle raw material both manually and with an overhead crane
  • Follow manufacturing processes at each site.

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Preferred bachelors with 3+ years relevant experience, associate’s degree with 5+ years relevant experience or 7+ years of relevant experience
  • A strong working knowledge of mechanical tools - tape measure, thread gauges, micrometers, protractors, square combination and dial calipers
  • A strong working knowledge of electrical test equipment, meters and other similar equipment
  • Ability to stand, move and perform as defined in the demand summary
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • One year of experience reading and interpreting blueprints or process sheets in an industrial or construction environment
  • One year of experience operating man lifts, forklifts and other equipment in an industrial environment

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

  • 5+ Years Galvanizing experience.
  • Technical Degree in Industrial Maintenance
  • Licensed Electrician: experience installing and troubleshooting 480V power supply.
  • Demonstrated results in Lean Manufacturing / Project management.
  • Extensive knowledge of hydraulic / pneumatic equipment
  • Fabrication welding experience and applicable certification (s).
