About the Role
We’re looking for a full-time Dispensing Optician to join us in delivering the kind of personalised, patient-first care we’re known for across 2 practices. You’ll play an important role in helping people see and feel their best, by offering expert advice, guiding them through frame and lens choices, and making sure every fit is as comfortable and accurate as it is stylish.
Join our close-knit, patient-focused team at Mathesons. We are seeking a versatile, proactive clinician who enjoys a varied week - combining 2–3 testing clinic days with hands-on practice support, triage, and patient care.
As a qualified Dispensing Optician, you’ll use your technical skills and product knowledge to recommend the best lens and frame options for each individual’s visual and lifestyle needs. You’ll take accurate measurements, ensure high-quality fittings, and manage complex prescriptions or adjustments with confidence. You’ll also be on hand to support patients with queries or concerns, help the team resolve any dispensing-related issues, and contribute to the upkeep and organisation of the practice. Most importantly, you’ll be someone who takes pride in great service and who brings warmth, care, and expertise to every interaction.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Dispensing Optician, you’ll lead on high-quality optical dispensing, offering expert guidance on complex lenses, frame styling, and fittings. Alongside your clinical dispensing days (2–3 days per week), you will support the wider running of the practice by assisting with patient pre-screening, imaging, and triage, as well as front-of-house reception and general practice support on non-clinic days. You’ll also help keep practice workflows seamless and act as a reliable, knowledgeable lead for both patients and colleagues. Above all, you’ll bring clinical thoroughness, an eye for detail, and a flexible, caring approach to every part of your day. What We’re Looking For
- GOC registration as a Qualified Dispensing Optician (experienced DOs and newly qualified candidates welcomed)
- Strong clinical knowledge paired with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility to work across both practice locations (Alresford & Grayshott)
- A proactive, hands-on attitude and willingness to support all areas of practice life
- This role will require you to work Saturdays
