Description
Your responsibilities
As Project Engineer Automation, you are responsible for the technical evidence behind a customer solution. You inspect the real site, translate material flows into a workable AGV or AMR concept, confirm feasibility with the factory in China, prepare the technical project scope, commission the system and prove that it meets the agreed acceptance criteria. This is a hands-on delivery role. During implementation you may work mainly at one customer site for several weeks. You will be paired with an Automation Project Coordinator who controls the plan, documents, decisions and changes so that you can focus on making the solution work and proving that it works.
What you wil own
- Conduct site surveys and translate customer processes, material flows and site conditions into clear layouts, requirements and technical concepts.
- Define AGV and AMR solutions within EP’s product capabilities, identifying technical dependencies, limitations and gaps early.
- Coordinate with EP’s factory and technical specialists in China to confirm feasibility and resolve technical questions.
- Prepare the technical scope for proposals and implementation, including equipment, interfaces, customer prerequisites, responsibilities and acceptance criteria.
- Install, configure, commission and optimise automation solutions at customer sites, troubleshooting vehicles, software, networks and interfaces as required.
- Manage testing, documentation, customer training and handover to After Sales, while feeding field experience back to Engineering and the factory for continuous improvement.
What success looks like
- The solution sold to the customer is supported by accurate site data, written feasibility and clear technical limits.
- Commissioning starts with the required inputs and test cases ready, issues are diagnosed from evidence, and changes are documented instead of being absorbed informally.
- The customer can accept the system against agreed criteria, and After Sales receives a configuration and evidence package it can support.
What your team does
Your profile
- A technical degree, qualification or equivalent practical experience in automation, robotics, engineering, computer science, logistics technology or a related field.
- Hands-on experience in industrial automation, commissioning, robotics, AGV/AMR systems, material handling or systems integration.
- A structured and practical approach to troubleshooting, measurement and documentation, with the ability to communicate technical requirements and limitations clearly.
- Knowledge of areas such as fleet/robot control, WMS/WCS interfaces, industrial networks, sensors/LiDAR, PLCs or digital mapping is an advantage.
- Professional fluency in English and Mandarin; German is a plus.
- Willingness to travel extensively across Europe, including longer on-site project phases and occasional visits to China.
