Description
This role is responsible for ensuring that CMC Markets’ complies with corporate tax and other business tax obligations across multiple jurisdictions including the UK, Germany, Australia, Singapore, Canada and New Zealand. As the business continues to grow and diversify, the role needs to ensure that the tax compliance, policies and procedures, team skills and experience keep pace with this change. This role covers a broad range of tax compliance, control and reporting responsibilities and that will require regular engagement with Group and Local Finance teams, tax advisors and other stakeholders across the business.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinate with external advisors and manage the preparation and filing of corporate tax returns for the Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Canada on a timely basis, with guidance from the Senior Tax Manager. This includes collecting the relevant internal data and documentation required for the preparation of the local returns.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns for Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Canada and China on a timely basis, with guidance and support from the VAT Manager.
- Assist with other business taxes and other countries (when required) to support accurate and timely tax filings and compliance with tax obligations.
- Track all tax liabilities and payment deadlines for applicable jurisdictions to ensure payments are made within statutory timelines.
- Actively contribute to the ongoing improvement of tax accounting and reporting processes including automation and digitalisation initiatives.
- Prepare Half Year and Year- end tax provisions for countries under your remit for Group consolidation purposes and sole entity accounts. Assist with other related matters for tax reporting as required.
- Assist in preparing comprehensive annual tax disclosures for both IFRS group and local ledgers.
- Document key tax processes, controls and maintain the documents to ensure they remain up-to-date and identify areas for enhancement.
- Support the Group in tracking and managing tax risks.
- Undertaking such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may reasonably be required and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this role.
KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Be fully qualified accountant or tax advisor with either of the following - ACCA / ACA / ATT / CTA or equivalent qualifications.
- Qualified Tax professional with 3- 5 years’ experience of managing tax compliance obligations from either in-house or professional services firm.
- Comprehensive knowledge of corporation tax and tax reporting under IFRS.
- Knowledge of AlphaTax or similar tax return preparation software is beneficial.
- Possess strong organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Know when to escalate issues and items to the relevant line managers.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proactive and adaptable; able to work independently as well as effectively within a team.
- Experience of working with internal and external stakeholders.
