Reconstruction Technician Assistant

Position Summary

The responsibilities of the Reconstruction Technician Assistant include assisting the Reconstruction Technician in restoring residential and commercial properties damaged by fire, water, mold, and storms. To be successful as a Reconstruction Technician Assistant, the employee must be able to follow instructions and eager to learn.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist experienced reconstruction technicians with basic drywall repairs, including patching, taping, sanding, and applying standard finishes.
• Assist with minor carpentry and cabinetry repairs to help restore damaged structures.
• Perform basic plumbing tasks, such as assisting with leak repairs and replacing fixtures, under appropriate supervision.
• Assist with the installation and repair of flooring materials in affected areas.
• Assist in restoring properties to their pre-loss condition following fire, water, mold, or storm damage as part of turnkey restoration projects.
• Assist mitigation technicians with water extraction, fire damage cleanup, mold remediation, and related restoration activities.
• Follow company safety procedures, applicable building codes, and industry standards while performing assigned duties.
• Remain reachable by phone during periods when awaiting assignment or engagement. During these periods, employees may use their time for personal activities unless contacted and instructed to report for duty.
• Ability to safely drive and operate company vehicles, trailers, and restoration equipment as needed 
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Competency/Skills

• Basic knowledge of or willingness to learn drywall repair, carpentry, plumbing, and flooring installation.
• Willingness to learn about building materials and their proper use in residential and commercial properties.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, follow instructions, and complete assigned tasks efficiently.
• Comfortable working in properties affected by fire, water, mold, or storm damage, with proper training and safety procedures.
• Dependable team player with good communication, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
• Ability to safely use basic hand and power tools or willingness to learn proper tool use.
• Ability to follow company safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Requirements

Experience/Education

• 0-2 years of general work experience
• Valid Driver’s license in good standing.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment, materials, and debris weighing up to 75 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
• Comfortable working in confined spaces, attics, crawl spaces, and other challenging environments.
• Ability to work around water, mold, fire, smoke, and other property damage conditions while wearing required PPE.
• Ability to operate mitigation equipment and safely handle tools and materials used in restoration work.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and job-site environments.
• Ability to travel to customer locations and respond to emergency service calls as needed.

Driver’s License Requirement: A valid driver’s license is required because this position regularly operates Company vehicles to travel to assigned job sites and other work locations. Company vehicles are used to transport tools, equipment, materials, and other work-related items necessary to perform and complete assigned service work. Company vehicles may be assigned to and stored at an employee’s residence when off duty to support timely deployment to assigned locations.
