ME364 - Two Executive Housekeeper or Domestic Couple - Manhattan/Alpine, NJ

Overview

A private family is seeking two exceptional, highly experienced Executive Housekeepers to join their long-standing household staff for a live-in position. The family is primarily based at their large residence in Alpine, New Jersey, with an approximately 8,000-square-foot residence in Manhattan that is currently on the market. The principals are expected to spend the majority of their time in Alpine moving forward, though some work at the Manhattan residence may be required until it is sold.

 

This is an immediate need and an excellent opportunity for polished, career household professionals seeking a long-term position. The family has an established history of retaining staff for many years and is looking for individuals who take tremendous pride in maintaining a home to an exceptionally high standard.

 

In addition to hands-on housekeeping, the Executive Housekeepers will assist with the overall upkeep and organization of the Alpine property. 

 

The household employs a private chef, so candidates must be comfortable working collaboratively with a chef and other established household staff. Experience with formal service is important, including proper table setting, serving, kitchen setup, and supporting meal service. Candidates should understand the standards and discretion required when working as part of a professional private household team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the residences to an immaculate, luxury-level standard
• Perform detailed daily housekeeping and deep cleaning as needed
• Properly care for museum-quality furniture, fine finishes, specialty surfaces, and valuable household items
• Manage family laundry, ironing, pressing, and exceptional wardrobe care
• Maintain impeccably organized closets, drawers, kitchens, and household spaces
• Work collaboratively with the family's private chef and other household staff
• Assist with formal table setting, serving, meal service, and kitchen setup
• Monitor household needs and proactively address issues without requiring daily direction
• Communicate with vendors and service providers regarding household maintenance and repairs
• Follow up with pool, tennis court, and other property service providers as needed
• Maintain household supplies and organization
• Assist with the upkeep of the Manhattan residence as needed until it is sold
• Maintain complete discretion and confidentiality at all times

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have extensive experience in formal, high-end private residences and must be extremely detail-oriented, organized, proactive, and knowledgeable about the proper care of luxury homes and belongings. The residences contain museum-quality and high-value furnishings, and candidates must understand how to properly care for fine furniture, specialty surfaces, designer clothing, linens, and other valuable household items.

 

The principals maintain an immaculate and highly organized household and are looking for professionals who naturally notice what needs to be done without requiring micromanagement or daily lists. Closets, drawers, wardrobes, kitchens, and household spaces should be maintained beautifully and consistently.

 

Candidates must have strong laundry and wardrobe-care skills, including experience caring for designer and delicate clothing, ironing and pressing, organizing closets and drawers, and ensuring garments are returned and stored properly. They should also be comfortable communicating with and following up with household vendors and service providers, including those responsible for the pool, tennis court, repairs, maintenance, and other property needs.

Requirements

• Significant professional experience as an Executive Housekeeper in high-end private residences
• Prior experience working in formal UHNW households strongly preferred
• Exceptional knowledge of fine furnishings, luxury surfaces, and proper cleaning techniques
• Excellent knowledge of designer clothing, delicate fabrics, laundry, ironing, and wardrobe care
• Strong formal service skills and experience working alongside a private chef
• Extremely organized with an exceptional eye for detail
• Proactive and able to anticipate household needs without being micromanaged
• Comfortable communicating professionally with vendors and other household staff
• Polished, discreet, professional, and service-oriented
• Strong references from previous private household employers
• Candidates seeking a long-term position are strongly preferred

Salary and Benefits

This is a full-time position for a family primarily based in Alpine, NJ. The family prefers live-in candidates and can provide private accommodations in a separate guest house adjacent to the main residence. The accommodations include a private bedroom, living room, and full kitchen.

 

The family is seeking two Executive Housekeepers and is open to considering two professionals who already work well together, as well as exceptional individual candidates. Some flexibility to assist at the family's Manhattan residence may be required while that property remains on the market.

 

Compensation: Approximately $45-48/hr plus benefits.
