Description
Renton Technical College is seeking a Dean of Advanced Manufacturing to provide strategic vision and leadership for the Advanced Manufacturing Division. The Dean is responsible for fiscal oversight, sustainable planning, and the development and implementation of key workforce initiatives. This role will support the retention and recruitment of students, including the collaboration and contribution towards college-wide operational and strategic priorities. The Dean also provides leadership and direction for the division's programs, faculty, and staff to ensure success across all areas.
This is a full-time, and exempt position reporting to the Vice President of Instruction. The salary range for this position is $140,000 - $150,000 annually. The priority consideration date is September 6, 2026.

- Support the college's mission by creating a learning and work environment of mutual respect and fairness, while encouraging creative and critical thinking. Contribute to the appreciation of multicultural understanding.
- Collaborate with businesses and industry to provide leadership and administrative oversight for the college’s Workforce, Trades, & Economic Development Programs that ensures consistency with current, changing and future needs of students and the workforce community.
- Provide direction and lead the division in developing and offering current, relevant and effective high demand programs.
- Work with faculty in curriculum review and revision, outcomes assessment, and improvement processes.
- Manage, evaluate and modify the operation of the division courses, classes and special programs/projects to maintain or improve instructional quality and to assure adherence to standards.
- Assist instructors with recruiting and placing students by maintaining relationships with businesses, industry, schools, and agencies.
- Establish and maintain effective and involved advisory committees for each preparatory program.
- Promote and enhance vocational education activities, including serving on statewide and college committees.
- Participate in relevant on- and off-campus committee work, state and community boards and activities as appropriate and assigned by the Vice President of Instruction.
Operational Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the supervision, training and performance management of assigned faculty and staff in adherence to negotiated agreements, applicable state and federal laws, as well as College policies and procedures.
- Recommend full-time tenure track faculty candidates for employment. Hire part-time faculty and staff to support the division.
- Ensure that all faculty are appropriately certified and have developed professional improvement plans.
- Responsible for the timely development and monitoring of budgets for assigned programs, including specifications development and travel approval, while assisting with the annual, comprehensive instructional budget. Ensure appropriate cost and quality control measures are adhered to when orders for instructional and non-instructional products are purchased.
- In collaboration with campus safety, ensure that appropriate safety and security measures are designed, implemented and maintained in all Programs.
- Research, analyze and evaluate feedback data to assist in student development and persistence.
- Assist in resolving student issues or concerns.
- Support and participate in grant applications relevant to program areas.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Experience working with persons from diverse backgrounds such as sexual orientation, racial, ethnic, religious, linguistic, gender, age, socio-economic, physical and learning abilities, and a commitment to an inclusive and equitable working / learning environment.
- Bachelor’s degree and five years administrative experience in a technical or community college environment is required. Master’s degree in education or a discipline related to one or more areas within the Advanced Manufacturing division is preferred.
- Three years of experience supervising, coaching and /or mentoring faculty and other assigned personnel.
- Experience teaching and/or working in in a trades program.
- Knowledge of and experience with trades program management, program accreditation standards at the local, state, and federal levels, educational planning, budget management, and effective teaching and learning practices.
- Understanding of and commitment to the educational mission and philosophy of a technical college.
- Ability to accurately evaluate instructional activities, programs, courses, and projects.
- Familiarity with state and federal workforce and economic development programs regulations, goals, and target populations.
- Ability to develop and implement workforce-related projects and grants.
- Demonstrated attention to detail as well as previous experience maintaining accurate records, managing multiple tasks and planning and organizing work in order to meet changing priorities and deadlines.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff and community partners. Skilled with interpersonal communications, conflict resolution and organizational management.
- Demonstrated ability to promote universal design and accessibility. Proficiency in (or ability to learn within 6 month of hire) the production of accessible content, whether print or electronic.
- Ability to represent the college in a positive and professional manner, while using tact, discretion and courtesy.
- Ability to speak a regionally top spoken language other than English is preferred (Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Somali, and Chinese).
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Working hours are generally aligned to business hours, Monday – Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work is required. Work is mostly sedentary in nature, performed in an office environment. Frequent use of a computer and exposure to terminal screens is required. Work and meetings may take place across campus. May drive/travel to trainings, conferences, and/or college events. This is mostly an in-person/on-campus position; remote work may occur as business permits.
