Description
Now Brewing – Senior Designer, Green Apron Service
From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different kind of company. One that not only celebrated coffee and the rich tradition, but that also brought a feeling of connection. We are known for developing extraordinary leaders who share this passion and are guided by their service to others.
Our Coffeehouse Excellence User Experience team designs the systems and experiences that enable coffeehouse operations across North America. We are a collaborative, human-centered group solving complex, business-critical problems through deep empathy and understanding of human behaviors.
Your work will directly influence how digital tools support our Coffeehouse partners (employees). You’ll be a hands-on designer who thrives in collaboration, balances form and function, and pushes for accessible, intuitive, and impactful digital experiences. You’ll actively contribute to design projects, work closely with cross-functional teams, and create digital experiences that help partners deliver exceptional customer experiences every day.
As a senior designer, you will...
- Design innovative features that blend seamlessly into Coffeehouse operations.
- Create modern and intuitive UX and UI by leveraging an end-to end design process that includes mapping user flows, concepting, sketching, designing and prototyping.
- Collaborate closely with researchers, product managers, operations specialists, and engineers to design, test and deliver major capabilities across tablet and laptop experiences.
- Influence Starbuck’s product strategies through strong design explorations and rationale, connecting decisions to partner, business, and customer impact.
- Contribute to design systems, ensuring visual consistency, predictable interactions, accessibility, and brand integrity.
- Contribute feedback and active discussions to elevate the collective quality of the design team’s work.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing rapid iteration with thoughtful craft.
We’d love to hear from people with...
- 3+ years of customer-facing digital product design experience, ideally at scale with design-driven brands, tech companies, or agencies.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating interaction design, systems thinking, and high-quality visual design.
- Experience shipping features and experiments in agile, fast-paced environments, including data-informed design decisions.
- Experience collaborating closely with developers to ensure functional excellence and pixel-perfect execution.
- Hands-on expertise with modern design tools such as Figma for prototyping, iteration, and collaboration.
- Awareness of emerging digital design trends, with the ability to thoughtfully apply them in a brand-led environment.
- Ability to communicate concepts and design rationale clearly—visually, verbally, and in writing.
- Previously designed for native mobile OS and possess knowledge of platform-specific guidelines.
Nice-to-have experience...
- Experience designing for frontline employee experience.
- Experience designing with and for AI‑powered features.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive design practices.
- Advanced prototyping skills.
