Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Field Engineer - Electrical to oversee and manage all electrical engineering supervision activities for a major development project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that electrical systems are installed, tested, commissioned, and handed over in accordance with approved designs, project specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and contractual obligations. Working closely with the Resident Engineer, Construction Manager, MEP teams, contractors, and stakeholders, the Lead Field Engineer - Electrical will provide technical leadership and ensure the successful delivery of complex electrical systems across large-scale buildings, convention centers, hotels, resorts, and mixed-use developments.
Your role
- Lead and supervise all electrical site engineering and inspection activities throughout project execution.
- Review and monitor electrical construction works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, codes, and project requirements.
- Coordinate and oversee electrical engineers, inspectors, and specialist consultants.
- Review and recommend approval of electrical shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and technical submissions.
- Monitor the installation of electrical systems including power distribution, substations, transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, lighting, grounding, lightning protection, and ELV systems.
- Ensure electrical works are executed in accordance with approved schedules and project milestones.
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Coordinate electrical interfaces with architectural, structural, mechanical, ICT, security, and specialist systems.
- Review Requests for Information (RFIs), technical queries, and design clarifications related to electrical works.
- Conduct site inspections and quality audits to verify workmanship and compliance with project standards.
- Witness factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), and commissioning activities.
- Ensure implementation of Quality Assurance and Quality Control procedures for all electrical systems.
- Monitor testing and commissioning of electrical infrastructure and building systems.
- Identify technical risks, construction challenges, and interface issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Support progress measurement, payment certification, and project reporting activities.
- Verify compliance with local authority regulations, utility requirements, and international electrical standards.
- Participate in coordination meetings, design review workshops, and project progress meetings.
- Assist in managing non-conformance reports, corrective actions, and punch list items.
- Oversee snagging, de-snagging, testing, commissioning, operational readiness, and handover activities.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior electrical engineers and inspectors.
About you
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
- Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Project Management is preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer, PMP, or equivalent certification is desirable.
- Minimum 12+ years of overall professional experience in electrical engineering and construction supervision.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in a lead electrical supervision role on major building projects.
- Proven experience in large-scale buildings, convention centers, hotels, resorts, mixed-use developments, airports, commercial towers, or hospitality projects.
- Extensive experience within Site Supervision Consultancy, PMC, or Engineering Consultancy environments.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems including power distribution, substations, generators, lighting, grounding, fire alarm, ELV, and building systems integration.
- Experience reviewing electrical design documents, shop drawings, technical submittals, and testing reports.
- Familiarity with international standards such as IEC, NFPA, IEEE, BS, and relevant Saudi regulations.
- Experience with testing, commissioning, and handover of complex building electrical systems.
- Strong understanding of QA/QC requirements, inspection processes, and safety standards.
- Experience coordinating with utility providers and local authorities.
- Previous experience in Saudi Arabia or GCC projects is highly preferred.
- Excellent leadership, communication, technical reporting, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering management software.
- Fluency in English is required; Arabic language skills are an advantage.
