Job Summary
Is responsible for supervising a team of inventory control coordinators to ensure in-stock plant inventory of materials and products within the business unit, in accordance with inventory cycles, while minimizing overstocking of slower moving items. Works under general supervision and direction; relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; a certain degree of latitude is required.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains and manages inventory levels so turns and inventory dollars to sales dollars percentage remain within stated guidelines.
- Communicates needs with manufacturer and adjusts purchase orders to shift needs to priority locations.
- Provides knowledge on inventory levels, cost, lead times etc. to assist sales meeting customer needs.
- Acts as a liaison between Manufacturing and Distribution plants to keep informed as major changes or issues arise from either aspect.
- Works closely with the sales department to help with larger service level commitments to ensure stock availability with expected lead times.
- Assists monitoring, maintaining, and managing all purchasing programs.
- Follows-up on purchase orders to ensure their on-time arrival. This is to include the tracing of all inbound products.
- Analyzes and adjusts min/max inventory thresholds in plants to coincide with available lead times from the manufacturer.
- Observes slower moving items and direct the transfers of said materials to plants with needs.
- Ensures transferring slow or dead material takes priority over new purchase requested material.
- Monitors aged inventory reports and create “hit lists” for team to be aware of potential inventory problems.
- Supervises the team to coordinate with plant contacts to rectify over and under stock issues and to maintain inventory at optimal levels.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of experience in related areas
- Knowledgeable in Company accounting procedures and inventory management concepts
- Familiar with industry and Company standard practices and procedures
- Minimum 2 years supervisory experience preferred
