Overview
The Metrology Technician is responsible for calibration and requalification activities. His/her experience will make him/her a privileged interlocutor for the resolution of problems.
The technician is authorized to direct internal and external work performed in this area. This role ensures compliance with GMP and internal policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Execute, document calibration and requalification for all equipment and systems across the site, including QC, production, warehouse, facilities, utilities etc.
- Ensure measuring instruments and requalified equipment, systems are calibrated and requalified and maintained in compliance with local policies, guidelines, and procedures during their lifecycle.
- Supervise external companies during interventions.
- Create or Update calibration and requalification documentation according to equipment lifecycle: Introduction of new equipment, modification of parameter, change of status etc.
- Plan calibration and requalification activities with equipment owners.
- Perform and support activities on measuring instruments and requalified equipment such as adjustment, setting, replacement, modification, maintenance, installation of new equipment etc. Together with line functions to follow-up through defect resolution.
- Ensure that all tags are up to date and reflect the status of the calibration and requalification.
- Reviewing cGMP calibration and requalification document.
- Document calibration and requalification activities in the dedicated management software (CMMS).
- Record and document any calibration related out of tolerance and deviation in appropriate formular or software.
- Manage and ensure the metrological validity of standards.
- Write and maintain procedures related to Metrology activities.
- Provide technical support in the development of new measurement methods.
- Participate and collaborate on site projects related to metrology activities with internal departments and external companies.
- Support departments in providing a “customer service oriented” service. Including troubleshooting and optimization of production equipment.
- Apply and enforce GMP requirements, Health, Safety and Environmental rules and procedures during all metrology activities.
- Identify risk points in advance so that management can take corrective action.
- Research the origins and causes of failures and resolve them.
- Follow-up of investigation processing, CAPA, Change Control.
- Always maintain the integrity of equipment and facilities
- Ensure the safety of self, others, and the environment.
Qualifications
Experience / Education
- Formation Technical discipline (CFC or equivalent)
- 3-4 years of work experience in a GMP environment
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- GxP experience required in the Pharma or biotech industry.
- 5+ years of metrology experience
- Excellent knowledge of French, knowledge of English (oral and written) is an asset.

- Autonomous and initiative.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Good knowledge of computer tools (MS office, CMMS, etc…).
