Principal Purpose of Job:
Responsible for creating and implementing strategies to support the Ranch mission and employee culture, encouraging strong leadership and teamwork, and driving employee retention. Provide Human Resources support in order to ensure the mission of the ranch is fulfilled through effective, efficient and accurate HR administrative operation. Responsible for the oversight of recruitment and retention of staff, new hire orientation, wage and salary administration, benefits administration, worker’s compensation administration, disciplinary and counseling programs, performance evaluation reviews, staff and management training, employee relations, housing administration, and any other matters relating to the employment life cycle and employee experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create and implement strategies to support the organization and its employees
- Create and implement strategies for recruitment, orientation, training, and development of employees
- Assess training needs at all levels of the organization; identify and develop sources of training and materials; ensure that departmental training is effective and on-going; monitor general training and orientation programs; assesses effectiveness of training and developmental programs
- Manage to include Worker Compensation, FMLA, and ADA procedures
- Ensure Employee Handbook is up-to-date, legal and relevant
- Oversee and implement visa programs (I.e.- J-1, H2B, Greencard)
- Directly responsible for human resources budget
- Provide oversight for all employee communications including but not limited to job descriptions, evaluations, disciplinary actions, terminations, etc.
- Coordinate New Hire Orientation process for new employees to ensure clear communication, set accurate expectations, and provide a warm welcome
- Ensure proper management of the applicant tracking system- posting job descriptions, pre-screening candidates, responding to candidates in a timely manner, and routing qualified candidates to appropriate managers
- Work closely with Recruiting Manager on all Management positions, posting, interviewing and checking references on all perspective hires
- Develop, approve, and maintain all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for HR; ensure management follows SOPs that pertain to staff communications and HR processes
- Work in conjunction with Assistant General Manager and General Manager to ensure that the management team is on the same page and moving in a consistent direction as it relates to business goals and objectives
- Manage Recruiting Manager, Housing Manager, and HR Coordinator to ensure accurate and up-to-date administrative practices, goals, etc.
- Train HR personnel in all necessary areas of HR operation
- Confirm processing of all new hires to ensure compliance with government regulations pertaining to lawful employment and taxes on income
- Approves terminations and administers exit interviews
- Ensure E-verify and I-9 completion
- Consult with compensation committee to establish starting wages; ensures competitive pay rates throughout all salary ranges; monitors pay systems to ensure compliance with federal and state labor laws
- Recommend and drafts policies and procedures relating to employment; administers and interprets to ensure compliance and “fair and equitable” enforcement
- Be informed on benefits programs to retain staff, including group health and life insurance, retirement programs, etc.; internally markets plans to eligible employees
- Maintain “open door” policy; participates in employee counseling and coaching
- Investigates any and all harassment complaints, participates in investigations, etc.
- Ensure company’s liability is of the utmost concern as it relates to worker’s comp or other potential legal actions
- Administer performance review and appraisal systems; oversee and ensures compliance with discipline procedures; provides management with feedback on employee attitudes and morale, and recommends corrective action as appropriate
- Organize Employee Opinion Survey once or twice per year; provide results to Owners, Executives, Managers and finally employees. Work with departments on action items
- Oversee recognition and incentive programs and all employee participation programs
- Develops and executes HR procedural training in Manager meetings
- Stay up-to-date and informed on recruitment trends
- Analyze pre-employment background checks on all prospective hires
- Ensure proper organization & record keeping of all confidential information
- Maintain appropriate records to support all payroll transactions including salary changes, deduction changes, and general employee information changes using the HRIS. Ensure proper approval of all PAN forms from the Manager, Director, GM, Controller, and HRD
- Oversee employee housing to include coordinating tenant move-in/out dates, work orders, room inspections, payroll deductions, and conflict resolution
- Work with Housing Manager and Resident Advisers to ensure the houses are clean and safe, conduct inspections, conduct meetings when needed
- Coordinate and attend monthly employee events to enhance employee morale
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws
- Oversight of accurate payroll processing
- Work with Payroll to investigate and settle disputes involving possible payroll errors
Other Duties:
- Oversee employee bulletin boards ensure accurate and effective communication
- Other duties as assigned by the Assistant General Manager and General Manager

Education/Experience:
A four-year college degree or equivalent education/experience
Minimum two years supervisory experience
Minimum three years experience in human resources in the hospitality industry at a 4 or 5 star level preferred
Benefits administration experience
Special Skills/Equipment:
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, to include Word, Outlook, and Excel
Ability to quickly learn web-based computer systems
Prior experience with HRIS, ATS and timekeeping systems preferred
Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
