Description
A leading organisation is seeking a Payroll and Benefits Specialist to take ownership of accurate, compliant and efficient payroll and benefits administration. The successful candidate will provide specialist guidance to employees and HR stakeholders while contributing valuable insights, reporting and process improvements across the HR function.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and review payroll processes to ensure accuracy, compliance and adherence to strict deadlines.
- Administer employee benefits, including medical aid, pension, funeral cover and related programmes.
- Investigate and resolve payroll, benefits, tax and SARS-related queries.
- Manage payroll inputs, employee movements, remuneration data and HR system updates.
- Conduct payroll and benefits reconciliations, audits and variance reviews.
- Prepare and analyse HR and payroll reports, statistics and workforce data for stakeholders and management.
- Liaise with payroll and benefits service providers, Finance, HR stakeholders and external auditors.
- Ensure payroll and benefits practices remain aligned with current legislation, policies and governance requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, systems and service delivery.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have:
- Matric and a relevant degree, preferably a BCom or other relevant qualification, together with a payroll certification.
- 7–10 years’ experience in HR, payroll and benefits management.
- Advanced MS Excel skills and strong HRIS/database experience.
- Sound knowledge of payroll administration, benefits, reconciliations, reporting and South African payroll legislation.
- Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of confidentiality.
- Proven stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to work independently, manage competing deadlines and continuously improve processes.
- Registration with the South African Reward Association or South African Payroll Association would be advantageous.
