Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Patient Access Rep Lead, you will implement and manage Patient Access' strategic and operational objectives, serving as a subject matter expert and performing complex assignments with minimal direction from leadership.Every day you will create a positive impression for patients, interview them for demographic and financial information, verify insurance benefits, explain financial requirements, collect payments, and assist with pre-admitting, admitting, and registering. You will also have input into hiring and corrective actions, research and handle patient complaints, and manage workflow and customer service to meet patient needs.To be successful in this role, you will possess comprehensive expertise in Patient Access functions, strong leadership and problem-solving skills, exceptional customer service abilities, and the capacity to efficiently manage complex assignments, financial counseling, and patient registration processes.
- Acts as a liaison with physicians, patients, ancillary departments, nursing staff, finance and all other hospital departments, insurance companies, government regulatory agencies or outside entities when problems occur, problem-solves, and corrects all day-to-day operational problems.
- Operational oversight for day-to-day activities of Registration team at a unit or department level, assisting with staff scheduling, monitoring, course correction, and outcome-related functions such as quality review and follow-up details needed to complete work.
- Coordinates training and educational efforts with all key stakeholders regarding upgrades or new module implementations.
- Leads and or participates in training sessions for all claim edit, account, patient, and charge review work queues that Patient Access is responsible for (hospital and professional).
- Develops and approves various learning and educational tools for all new initiatives, workflows, and new hire training, using web-based online learning platform and/or in-class curriculum.
- Advises, participates, and reviews modern technology introduced into Patient Access; recommends policy/procedure changes, workflow updates, and participates in the RFP process as appropriate.
Job Requirements
Required
- High School Diploma/G.E.D.
- Previous work history that demonstrates office experience in a healthcare environment
- Prior experience with electronic systems such as Epic
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding and medical terminology
Preferred
- Bachelor Degree in Business Management, Healthcare Administration or similar
- One (1) year of progressive leadership experience (preferably in a healthcare setting)
- Three (3) years of health care experience
- Three (3) to five (5) years customer service experience
