The Representative II, Production Scientist is responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient manufacture of immunoassay diagnostic reagents and conjugates, critical components within immunoassay reagent kits. This role supports consistent product quality and reliable manufacturing output while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancements.
This position reports to the IA Formulation Supervisor and is part of the Immunoassay Operations team located just outside Tulla in Lismeehan, O’Callaghan’s Mills, Co. Clare, and will be an on-site role.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Play a key role in the manufacture of high-quality Immunoassay Diagnostic Reagents that support critical diagnostic testing for patients around the world.
Develop deep technical expertise in reagent formulation, conjugate manufacturing and in-process testing within a highly regulated environment.
Partner with Technical Operations, Validation, Quality and Engineering teams to introduce new processes, implement improvements and support validation activities that drive operational excellence.
Lead and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives using DBS tools and problem-solving methodologies to enhance safety, quality, delivery and productivity.
Take ownership of projects that improve department performance, visibility and effectiveness, including the development of visual management tools and tracking systems.
Build your leadership skills by acting as a delegate for the Formulation Supervisor and supporting departmental priorities when required.
Present business and operational updates through daily management processes, helping to drive accountability, performance and problem resolution across the team.
Work within a collaborative, cross-functional environment where your ideas and contributions can directly influence process improvements and future ways of working.
Physical / Working Environment
This is an active, hands-on role that requires standing, walking and working with manufacturing and laboratory equipment throughout the workday.
You'll work across laboratory, manufacturing and office environments, gaining exposure to all stages of the reagent formulation process.
The role involves working in cleanroom and controlled production environments, where adherence to PPE requirements, contamination control standards and quality procedures is essential.
You'll operate and monitor specialised manufacturing and laboratory equipment, ensuring the safe and effective execution of production activities.
The role requires a high level of attention to detail, accuracy and compliance when following procedures, documenting activities and responding to operational issues.
You'll work closely with cross-functional teams, including Technical Operations, Quality, Validation and Engineering, to support production goals and continuous improvement initiatives.
The essential requirements of the job include:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree (Level 8) in a scientific discipline
Experience: Experience in a laboratory or manufacturing environment
Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with laboratory equipment such as HPLC/UPLC, analytical balances, pH meters, pipettes, fume hoods, and spectrophotometers
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Diagnostics, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology manufacturing environments
Exposure to GMP practices and process validation activities
Use of Oracle or an equivalent ERP system an advantage
Experience in conjugation manufacture
Experience applying Lean, Six Sigma, DBS or continuous improvement methodologies.
