VIC - Melbourne - 655 Collins StWe have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Payroll Compliance Officer to join our Transactional Services team.

In this specialist role, you will be responsible for ensuring payroll compliance across Service Stream's national operations within our SAP Employee Central Payroll (ECP) environment. Working closely with the Payroll Lead and broader payroll team, you will validate payroll data and compliance outputs prior to lodgement, ensuring accuracy, legislative compliance, and alignment with relevant Awards and Enterprise Agreements.

This role is ideal for a payroll professional with a strong compliance background who enjoys working with complex payroll environments, statutory obligations, and continuous process improvement.

 

Location: Collins Street, Melbourne. Supporting hybrid working, 3 days from office 2 days from home. 

Work type: 12-month fixed term maternity leave cover.

What you’ll do

• Validate payroll compliance calculations and outputs within SAP ECP before lodgement.
• Prepare, reconcile and lodge Payroll Tax across multiple entities.
• Manage third-party payments and reporting, including: Portable Long Service Leave (LSL), Income Protection, Redundancy Funds, Child Support and other statutory obligations
• Ensure all statutory reporting and remittances are completed accurately and on time.
• Review payroll compliance activities to ensure adherence to legislative and organisational requirements.
• Provide guidance and support to Payroll Officers on compliance-related matters.
• Support compliance processes relating to: Fair Work legislation, Awards and Enterprise Agreements, Superannuation obligations, Payroll Tax requirements, PAYG and STP reporting
• Respond to and resolve payroll compliance enquiries.
• Assist with payroll processing during periods of leave or increased workload.
• Contribute to the ongoing optimisation of compliance processes, controls and documentation within SAP ECP.

 

What You'll Bring

You are a detail-oriented payroll professional with a strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation and compliance obligations. You enjoy working in a complex environment, managing multiple deadlines, and ensuring accuracy across all payroll-related activities.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Minimum 5 years' experience in payroll or payroll compliance within a high-volume, multi-entity environment.
• Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, Fair Work requirements, Payroll Tax, Superannuation and ATO obligations.
• Experience processing or validating PAYG, STP, Payroll Tax and Superannuation reporting.
• Experience managing third-party remittances, including Portable LSL, Income Protection and Redundancy Funds.
• Experience working with SAP Employee Central Payroll (ECP) or similar enterprise payroll systems such as SAP ECC, CHRIS21 or Preceda.
• Strong analytical, reconciliation and data validation skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience within construction, infrastructure or similarly complex industries will be highly regarded.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Payroll Administration, Accounting, Human Resources, Business or a related discipline highly regarded.
• Payroll-related certifications through AHRI, TAPS or the Australian Payroll Association preferred.
• SAP ECP training or certification advantageous
