Responsibilities & Essential Functions

Cloud Architecture & Design:
Lead the design and architecture of scalable, secure, and resilient cloud solutions on various platforms.
Evaluate and select appropriate cloud services, tools, and technologies to meet business objectives.
Create and maintain architectural documentation, diagrams, and best practices for cloud deployments.
Implementation & Management:
Oversee the deployment and management of cloud infrastructure, ensuring alignment with architectural standards.
Manage the lifecycle and technical debt of cloud environments, including provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and decommissioning.
Drive automation efforts, leveraging infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible and/or other scripting languages.
Hands on experience using AWS and/or Azure API’s
Work directly with CDK Product Engineering teams to design and implement new cloud capabilities in support of their products to improve cost efficiency, performance and stability.
Security & Compliance:
Define and enforce cloud security policies, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Implement robust security controls, including encryption, identity and access management (IAM), and network security.
Lead efforts in conducting security audits, vulnerability assessments, and incident response within the cloud environment.
Performance Optimization & Cost Management:
Monitor and optimize the performance of cloud systems, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.
Analyze cloud resource usage and costs, recommending strategies for cost optimization without compromising performance.
Collaborate with finance and procurement teams to manage cloud spending and budget forecasting.
Mentorship & Collaboration:
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior cloud engineers, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development, operations, and security, to ensure successful cloud integration and operations.
Act as a subject matter expert (SME) in cloud technologies, providing guidance and support to other teams and stakeholders.
Incident Management & Troubleshooting:
Lead the resolution of complex cloud-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime and impact on business operations.
Participate in on-call rotations, providing advanced support during critical incidents and outages.
Develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans for cloud environments.
Required Job Skills & Qualifications
Advanced certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert) are required.
5-7+ years of experience in cloud systems engineering, IT infrastructure, or related roles, with a focus on large-scale cloud environments.
Extensive hands-on experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their associated services.
Proven track record of designing, implementing, and managing complex cloud architectures.
Expertise in scripting and programming languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
In-depth knowledge and hands on experience with cloud security practices, including IAM, encryption, compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, GDPR). Hands on experience using or integrating with 3rd party security tools (Threat Management, Vulnerability Management, Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM), PIM/PAM, SIEM, etc.)
Hands on experience with technically supporting public cloud environments, including Identity & Access Management, development and implementation of security controls, cloud forensics, implementing cost optimization solutions, designing and implementing network solutions including network routing, firewalls, load balancers, bastion hosts and EKS.
Hands/on proficiency with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on optimizing performance and reducing costs.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience with AI capabilities in the cloud to both manage the cloud platform and assist CDK product teams using AI to improve their product functionality/supportability.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps tools (e.g. Harness, Terraform, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD), and practices.
Familiarity with serverless architectures, microservices, and cloud-native application design.
Experience with hybrid cloud environments and multi-cloud strategies.
Strong understanding of networking concepts, including VPNs, VPCs, load balancers, and firewalls.
