Job Title: Sr. Systems Analyst (PL/SQL)
Location: Edmonton, Alberta (Hybrid)
Type: Full-Time Contract (12 Months)

The Position:
Our downtown Edmonton client is seeking an experienced contract Systems Analyst (PL/SQL) to support the analysis, design, development, enhancement, and maintenance of enterprise Oracle applications. You will be responsible for gathering business requirements, developing technical solutions, supporting production systems, and collaborating with business and technical stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.
You will have extensive experience working in Oracle environments, strong PL/SQL development expertise, and a proven ability to deliver solutions in complex enterprise environments.
What You'll Do:
Systems Analysis & Development
- Gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements.
- Review requirements with business users and provide effort estimates and timelines for completion.
- Design, develop, test, and implement application enhancements and change requests.
- Produce and maintain application code, primarily utilizing PL/SQL.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, specifications, procedures, and support materials.
- Design, build, and validate solutions that meet business and technical requirements.
- Follow established Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies and best practices.
Application Support & Maintenance
- Maintain enterprise applications to ensure efficient and reliable operation.
- Troubleshoot application issues and implement timely resolutions.
- Conduct root cause analysis and recommend improvements to systems and processes.
- Support production environments and provide on-call support as required.
- Monitor application performance and recommend enhancements where appropriate.
- Develop a strong understanding of application environments, integrations, and system interdependencies.
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Participate in system, integration, and user acceptance testing activities.
- Develop and execute test plans and test cases for application changes.
- Collaborate with IT teams and business stakeholders during testing cycles.
- Provide support throughout all phases of testing and implementation.
- Ensure solutions meet quality standards and business requirements.
Collaboration & Project Delivery
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams across the organization.
- Communicate effectively with team members, management, and business stakeholders.
- Contribute to workload planning, prioritization, and project deliverables.
- Participate as a member of project teams and technology initiatives.
- Adhere to IT controls, governance standards, data privacy requirements, and organizational policies.
Data & Reporting Solutions
- Design and develop data interfaces, extracts, and integrations.
- Support forms and report development activities.
- Assist in the design and maintenance of logical and physical data models.
- Develop and optimize complex database queries and SQL solutions.
- Support data management and reporting initiatives across the organization.
Mandatories:
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in systems analysis, application design, development, implementation, and support within enterprise environments.
- Extensive hands-on experience developing and maintaining applications using PL/SQL.
- Advanced experience working with Oracle databases, Oracle development tools, and Oracle application environments.
- Strong ability to write and optimize complex SQL and PL/SQL queries against large and complex data sets.
- Demonstrated experience gathering business requirements and translating them into technical solutions.
- Experience supporting application testing, implementation, and production support activities.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional consultation skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong planning, organizational, and workload management abilities.
- Proven ability to work effectively in collaborative, team-oriented environments.
- Experience working within structured SDLC methodologies and best practices.
Assets:
- Experience with Java, Bash scripting, or other programming languages.
- Working knowledge of database administration or database environments.
- Experience designing and developing data interfaces, reports, forms, and extracts.
- Experience with logical and physical data modeling.
- Knowledge of IT governance, data privacy, and compliance practices.
- Experience supporting complex integrated enterprise systems.
