Summary:
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for supporting a broad range of human resources functions that contribute to a positive employee experience and ensure compliance with company policies and employment laws. This role serves as a trusted partner to employees and leaders, providing guidance on HR policies, employee relations, leave administration, performance management, compliance, and employee lifecycle activities. The HR Generalist plays a key role in maintaining HR operations while supporting organizational goals and fostering an inclusive, high-performing workplace.
Responsibilities:
Employee Relations
- Serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers by providing guidance on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Respond to employee concerns and workplace issues while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
- Conduct workplace investigations as needed and recommend appropriate resolutions.
Performance Management & Corrective Action
- Provide guidance on disciplinary actions and corrective action processes to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Maintain documentation related to performance and employee conduct.
Leave Administration
- Administer employee leaves of absence, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, parental leave, personal leave, and other applicable leave programs.
- Coordinate with employees, managers, and payroll to ensure accurate leave tracking and timely communication.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state/provincial, and local leave regulations.
Immigration & Employment Authorization
- Coordinate employment-based immigration processes with external legal counsel and employees.
- Track visa statuses, work authorizations, and renewal deadlines.
- Support compliance with employment eligibility verification requirements and immigration regulations.
Tuition Reimbursement Administration
- Administer the company's tuition reimbursement program, including reviewing eligibility, processing requests, and maintaining program documentation.
- Communicate program guidelines and support employees throughout the reimbursement process.
End of Employee Lifecycle Management
- Coordinate employee offboarding activities.
- Conduct and document termination processes, ensuring compliance with company policy and applicable employment laws.
- Facilitate exit interviews
- Coordinate equipment recovery and offboarding communication with cross-functional teams.
Employment Verifications & Unemployment Claims
- Respond to employment verification requests in accordance with company policy.
- Manage unemployment insurance claims, including preparing documentation and representing the company when necessary.
- Maintain accurate employment records and required documentation.
HR Compliance & Administration
- Maintain employee records to ensure accuracy and confidentiality.
- Assist with policy development, implementation, and communication.
- Monitor and support compliance with federal, state/provincial, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Track required compliance training and certifications.
- Receive, sort, distribute, and prepare incoming and outgoing HR mail and correspondence, ensuring confidential documents are handled securely and delivered promptly.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support HR projects, initiatives, and process improvements.
- Assist with policy interpretation and employee communications.
- Collaborate with Talent Acquisition, Payroll, Benefits, and business leaders to ensure a seamless employee experience.
Requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3–5 years of progressive Human Resources experience in a generalist role.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws, HR best practices, and employee relations.
- Experience administering leaves of absence and managing employee relations matters.
- Experience supporting performance management, corrective action, and terminations.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
