Position Summary
This Mission Critical Senior Estimator serves as a key leader within the pre-construction process, responsible for developing, reviewing, and validating accurate, competitive cost estimates for complex mission critical and datacenter electrical projects. This role provides strategic oversight of estimating methodologies, risk assessments, and bid development while ensuring alignment with organizational objectives, market conditions, and project execution strategies. The Senior Estimator also leads and develops estimating team members, fostering a high-performing and collaborative environment.
What You'll Do
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Bid Strategy
- Lead the preparation and validation of comprehensive quantity take-offs, material pricing, labor, equipment, and indirect cost estimates for complex electrical projects.
- Establish estimating strategies and bid approaches, including risk assessment, competitive positioning, and value engineering considerations.
- Review, analyze, and interpret project plans, specifications, contracts, and bid documents to define scope, assumptions, exclusions, and project requirements.
- Perform and validate on-screen and off-screen take-offs.
- Review, audit, and approve estimates prepared by other estimators to ensure consistency, accuracy, and adherence to company standards.
- Prepare and approve proposal deliverables, including bid forms, labor sheets, schedules, and pre-qualification documents.
- Maintain the highest standards of integrity, ethics, and confidentiality throughout the estimating process.
Stakeholder Communication & Strategic Partnership
- Serve as a primary estimating resource for leadership, clients, and project stakeholders.
- Communicate estimating strategies, risks, assumptions, opportunities, and challenges in a clear and professional manner.
- Lead estimate reviews and bid strategy discussions to ensure alignment among project teams and decision-makers.
- Partner with project management, engineering, operations, and executive leadership to support successful project pursuits and execution planning.
Process Management & Compliance
- Establish, maintain, and continuously improve estimating processes, procedures, standards, and best practices.
- Ensure estimating documentation is complete, accurate, organized, and audit-ready, including project plans, specifications, correspondence, quantity take-offs, pricing data, subcontractor information, and supplier records.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and contractual requirements.
- Oversee CRM opportunities and maintain accurate estimating and project data.
Leadership & Organizational Collaboration
- Lead proposal efforts from initial evaluation through final submission and transition to operations.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Serve as a subject-matter expert on estimating practices, market conditions, and project risk evaluation.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to support long-term business success.
Team Development & Management
- Directly manage, mentor, and develop estimators.
- Assign work based on project requirements, individual capabilities, and development opportunities.
- Provide coaching, training, performance feedback, and professional development guidance.
- Establish clear expectations, accountability measures, and performance standards.
- Foster employee engagement and support a consistent, high-quality estimating function that delivers exceptional service.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Expert-level capability in due diligence, risk analysis, and financial evaluation of complex projects.
- Experience bidding projects ranging from 10MW-250MW+.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and team development skills.

Demonstrated Accomplishments
- Advanced proficiency with Accubid Live Count, BlueBeam, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Expert knowledge of estimating methodologies, metrics, systems, and industry best practices.
- Strong working knowledge of estimating platforms, with Accubid preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and review highly complex proposals with minimal oversight.
- Proven success leading large-scale estimating efforts from initial project evaluation through final cost development and transition to operations.
- Proven Mission Critical background from Hyperscale Greenfield to smaller TI Brownfield projects.
- Understanding and experience with datacenter enterprise clients and GC’s.
- Experience in complex breakouts and cost trending.
- Experience with quantitative detail and conceptual estimating.
- Experience with costing schedules, rates, manpower profiles and large change order backup.
- Comprehensive understanding of applicable local, state, and federal regulations, codes, and industry standards.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree, Associate’s degree, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- Extensive experience in the construction industry with significant electrical estimating responsibilities.
- Experience estimating large, complex, and high-risk projects.
- Field experience preferred.
- Experience managing, mentoring, and leading estimating teams.
- Equivalent combinations of relevant education, training, and applied experience will be considered.
What You'll Get
Working Conditions:
The majority of the time you will work in a typical office environment. Occasionally, you may travel to a construction job site. When on construction job sites you will encounter typical construction conditions including extreme temperatures, noise, dust, mud debris, welding, leading edge, trenching, and shoring, sometimes in a confined space. You may be required to visit multiple locations during any one day.

Salary Range: $127,500 - $172,500
*Final salary and rates are based on education, experience, skills relevant to the role, and internal equity.*

Compensation Range
